Just as you win a game or 2, you’re immediately matched up against a 5 man premade, usually an ESL team, to keep your win ratio at 50%. To top things off, you will probably lose 2 pips because somehow you’re favored to win. Thanks Anet, you’ve made gw2 PvP the most unenjoyable experience in any game I’ve played.

that just means you’re a low mmr player and you’ve been lucky

right now i am getting apex, and pz premades back to back

Except I have fought full abjured premade as well… Not saying I never get stomped by a pro league team… just saying that the large majority of my matches are significantly easier.

once again, that’s because you’re blessed with low mmr

you’re not getting them BACK to BACK
when players with higher mmr get tired of being farmed, we stop queing for a little bit
and then they filter through a lower mmr bracket and play the next tier down

and they play like 12+ hours a day,

I’ve been getting exclusive high mmr teams, if it’s not pz it’s OE’s 4 man or some other pro league team

it’s frustrating

Aight… just saying I get pros too. My match to get into sapphire had 6 total pros in it (granted, it was 3 on each side so it was a solid match). I am not immune to queueing into pros.
I still think the leagues are kitten and wish they would just expose mmr to have a real skill based system… just saying it isn’t impossible to climb solo.
Not gonna argue anymore… this is why I literally never post on this kittenhole.

Cuz people think they the best. I getcha. Had someone say I had low mmr despite beating him in both a hotjoin, meeting him in a ranked, and repeatedly destroying him 1v1. Am I missing a step? I beat him in unorganized team, organized team, and singular dueling. Said I had low mmr still, and that beating him up meant nothing because he had higher mmr than most players. Kek.

It’s not even that hard to advance. I’m almost sapphire and I’ve solo Q’d almost 90% of my matches. I’m also playing D/D cele bunker ele since I don’t even have HoT.

I’m Ruby and I basically entirely yoloq’d my way to Sapphire 4. The only reason I didn’t do that into Ruby was because some guildmates asked me if I wanted to play.

I know it’s a somewhat tiresome refrain to hear, but I’m really not that good, so if I can do it, a huge proportion of the community can do it.

Yeah… Getting matched against pro teams means you guys have really low MMR.

Just wait until your MMR is high enough to face scrubs instead.

I suck at PvP in the sense that I’m entirely one-dimensional – the only class I play to a proficient standard and feel comfortable with is Guardian/DH (by virtue of that having been my main in all other game modes since release), running a very simplistic build (albeit non-meta). Even then, my mechanical skill isn’t the best – I can’t count the number of times I’ve missed a Longbow #3 on a basically stationary target – and having been used to playing a very tanky class, I’m still screwing up a lot of basics now that I’m a squishy, e.g. positioning.

Pretty much the only thing that’s played in my favour is that when I hit a losing streak, I’m not great at giving up early or breaking them. So when I wind up trying rather hard, but failing miserably for maybe ten games before giving it a rest, generally when I come back, it’s been tough not to go on a winning streak of almost as many because of the havoc I’ve unintentionally wreaked upon my own MMR.

In terms of the general topic, I suppose it’s probably worth mentioning that things will just get tougher once you start to work through Sapphire. I think once I hit Sapphire 3, I noticed my queue times go up significantly and I’d be seeing much fewer people from Emerald in my games. There aren’t an awful lot of people in Sapphire/Ruby right now and, even outside of pro teams, the standard of competition is really high.

Also, in defence of ANet’s matchmaking system, I’ve consistently noticed that it will try very hard to put similar amounts of partied people against each other in matches – so if you have a duo on one side, it’ll try to put a duo on the other side. This has been the case for, I’d say, easily 90%+ of the matches I’ve paid attention to it. Unfortunately though, the system can only work with the people queued up to it and as a result, you are going to get odd matches here and there that seem mismatched.

i’m opposite, i find it much harder to win in a group of 3 or more. And i think that is because your more likely to face other groups of 3 or more, and there is not as many of them as solo qeues.

But when i’m solo or just in a group of two, i do great, and rarely see other teams with more then two man groups if that… I think the system works fine for me.

I just hit division 2: tier 3 today.

On a positive note (if there’s anything positive left in this dump of game) at least youre a high MMR player which means you probably know what you’re doing.

But unfortunately, the system only allows low MMR players to progress w/ little to no effort.

So if you know what you’re doing and positively contribute to the team’s effort but queue solo, you’re not going anywhere.

If it were designed and enforced thusly, it would be very simple – premades would allow people to get so far, then smash them. It wouldn’t avoid the original problem of a skill mismatch.

I mean there is so much luck in leagues right now.The premades are one of the problems the other is the pve players..when you have a random class with 20 points total…for the match up yeah it says enough.Or when you see a reaper or guardian going blindly into dh… And if you are player like me dedicated and with above average skill,I am stuck in emerald 2 and that is,the longest winstreak of mine is 5 the longest losing streak 3…I cant count the times I have been 1 win from next tier just to lose 1 or 2 games and then win next 2…It is like elo hell in LoL you can play above the average lvl of your league but you cant escape it.

Ran into a game with an esl player recently but apparently it is possible to lose, yet not lose any pips – it was around 200/500 (I don’t get the impression they were trying extremely hard based on the talking and standing still during combat)

I tend to find that above a certain score, you’ll generally maintain the status quo against them.

And in fairness to them, they are people too who are probably just as bored with the opposition as we all are.

It is entirely reasonable to be expect to be able to solo queue and make progress if you expect to be queued with people of similar experience and capability as you.

Right now we have a system that puts 5 yolo queuers with a newly minted rabbit on their team to tank their win rates against premades (hyperbole but meant to illustrate a point).

The current system punishes people for being competent and shuffles people into a more restrictive guild team environment. If the meta were any worse and people absolutely had to be in a guild or premade team to be able to even compete then this game mode would be solidly dead.

A viable solo queue environment is essential to this game mode. If people can’t plug and play, if the time investment needed to achieve rewards is so high, and if the meta is so off balance then this game will continue top die a slow agonizing death.

But just keep asking questions about why not just form a guild team hurdur.

feel the same way about solo tbh. that being said, I’ve been in premades that are worse than playing solo. when no one can rotate and no one will play a support build it gets so frustrating sometimes I’m just forced to quit the premade and queue solo.

I’m not 100% sure but I think I have won 1 pip in a lost game with the score around 480-500. That was my first game in emerald.

You’re preaching to the choir. I have written many threads to promote the return of a solo que but I am seeing that it isn’t going happen. This is why I now direct players more towards the stance of accepting the team environment and finding a team, rather than beating their heads against that wall that divides solo que and team que success rate. Because let me tell you, no matter how many people beat their heads against that wall, it isn’t going down any time soon.

If you want successful conquest matches, buckle up and find a team to play with.

They created the pvp sector so that u can play pvp immediately after u bought the game. You are instant lvl 80 and they give u the best armor/weopons everythings. They want to say to you:

Folks don´t bother with leveling u can start immediately. Click 1 or 2 buttons and play pvp.

But.. they didn´t mention to buy a headset and use TS to play pvp really efficient and not based on luck, they didn´t mentioned it on their game box.

And they didn´t mentioned that u have to create a group of skilled players that can take a time.

They should warn new players. You can play pvp everytime u want as a solo player but only hot join and unranked at maximum. NOT ranked. Don´t play ranked as solo player u will lose in the long run and never make it to diamond/legendary rank!

Sure you are right and as i mentioned in the long run. They will stuck forever in sapphire and won´t proceed in ruby if they don´t adapt.

You should have a 66,66% win rate in ruby to proceed to diamond? Isn´t it like this, is it?

I don´t know a lot of soloqs w/o TS who can reach this quote.
