Guild Wars 2

Hello, my name is Sindalm. I was hoping I could receive a quick review from people on theirs views on the PvP system. I am in the navy and have been underway for the last 3 months. I bought the strategy guide to guild wars so I would know a little about the classes that I wouild want to play before I get on.
The information I’ve gathered so far just from browsing the forums is that Mesmers and Thieves are extremely OP, which is a shame because the Strategy guide refers to Mesmers as being extremely complex to play (which I was looking forward to) and the way it described Thieves was similar. Are PvP matches mostly made up of solely Mesmers and Thieves, and if you don’t play one you will get wiped out? Or are these people just QQing and the PvP is actually really balanced?
The professions I planned on playing when I get back were Ranger, Mesmer, and Elementalist, how are these classes in PvP?

I think you will find the game is relatively balanced for how new it is. That being said if you want to pick one of those 3 then I would play Mesmer, or Elementalist.

If you like high mobility or support go with the Ele for roaming potential or support.

Solo ability go Mesmer.
