Invisible CC Hack
It’s neither a bug, nor a hack: it’s a feature.
Disable effect LOD in graphics setttings to fix this
0 counterplay
a lot had try but still it wont work..trap bug out always
The invisible traps are the hardest part about playing against a DH.
Yea as a Guardian I can confirm Dragon’s Maw is not visible most of the times.
how is it trash talk?
show us the invisible cc hack (video evidence or photo) then prove me wrong which fyi is probably heavy light.

This was supposed to have been fixed according to the November 17 2015 patch notes, but it hasn’t as I’ve experienced this too recently.
Maw/lb5 are invisible sometimes and doing well. Seems its not something they fix anytime soon.
Playing Smite since mid s2, f broken gw2.

pretty much anyone is agreeing to me that there is invisible CC from guardian. I dont need to prove you wrong anything, you have to. the invisible CC is a fact and is in no way related to graphic settings, which is why your denial of invisible cc is ridiculous and not relevant to the topic at all.
It’s usually the barrier that is placed after the Dragon’s Maw trap triggers that is not visible. In fact, my graphics settings are all on low, and I have never seen any kind of barrier from the trap. That includes the games I have played as a DH myself as well. Please fix this Anet.
And for those ppl who like to make snotty remarks, there are three other CC’s that dragonhunters have available besides the trait that was mentioned. They have a daze on all traps if traited, the longbow 5 skill, Hunter’s Ward, which places a small “fence” around up to 5 enemies that continually knocks them down if they try to exit the area without stability, and lastly, Dragon’s Maw has 2 CC moves (a pull that happens when the trap triggers and the remaining barrier). The issue most people have is that the barrier that remains for a few seconds afterward is not visible.
They don’t fix it because nerfing DH to death will be easier. So after the balance patch noone will play maw/lb5 and the issue is “fixxed” /kappa xD
Well.. just joking.. hope they let it stay fun.

When I fight DH, they often have invisible CC. I try to move, dodge etc., but I get knocked down.
What hack are they using and how can I prevent this?
One of the best threads in a while, made me laugh: ty OP.
Anyway I believe those skills should be disabled completly in PvP, until graphic bug is fixed… but well, Anet doesn’t care I think, it’s more annoying actualy than grenadier trait bug was.
Traps are not visible, since that’s the entire point of traps. Ranger and Thief traps are also not visible and both professions have a knockdown trap as well.
DH traps being instant cast, unlike every other trap in the game, is a whole different story.

OP as did I, meant that they are invisible after activating them, not casting, it’s visual bug. So you’re knocked down by LB #5 or Dragon Maw, and you don’t see “cage”.
I think it happened to me even to be rolled by invisible Procession of Blades melting my face, yet I couldn’t see it, and since we don’t have damage icons… you can just wonder whats going on when animation of those aren’t being played after activation during team fights.
After the patch, dragon maw has been deliberately reduced to a tiny little glowing circle on the ground that gets easily covered by other fields. Running into the sides of the circle knocks you down. Why anet thought this was a good solution to the “visual noise” problem, I have no idea.
The traps aren’t technically invisible, just rather extremely difficult to tell apart from the mess of combo fields that get splashed around.
I suggest people roll a DH, try out some traps against NPCs or other players, and really observe how they actually work. DH players get pretty predictable, and even if you can’t see the ‘invisible’ dragon maw trap, you can easily tell when one might be placed down and how to counter it.
Also, I’ve never encountered an “invisible Procession of Blades”, but DH does have a bag full of other face melting tricks that you may have failed to avoid.

Well, they probably don’t really know how to handle the visual noise problem. You tend to use graphics to show the efficacy of an attack, but there is little to no indication of the attack being performed so it needs to happen after the attack has been performed (Gravedigger wind-up vs Test of Faith bright blue swords). This leads to the clutter we have now. A solution to that is to reduce everything, reduce its effectiveness, reduce its noise, reduce its cost (for Guardians that would be cooldown), but that’s not what they want and it might solve much either. It would make them less annoying, yes, but also more frequent.
As for the invisible part, sometimes some of the traps never render for me. I can see the red ring but I can’t see what the red ring is being caused by. This also happens with Mesmer Wells on occasion.
Don’t worry. Ant will fix this bug soon enough.
Tooltip update: Trap effects are sometimes invisible.
