Invisible Traps deserve a Hotfix!
[AM] – Abaddon’s Mouth
Guardians are solid at controlling points in a conquest match by dropping traps. For such passive play however (dropping traps and waiting for enemies to step in them), it simply does way too much damage. They offer too much crowd control capability by making segments of points completely off-limits by creating areas of high pressure. I think the problem here is that the traps deal out damage in the form of direct or physical damage. Like a druid’s or Thief’s traps I believe that it should be changed to deal DoT so as to not offer such an immediate threat to people’s well being but also being a major problem if not dealt with in the form of CC.
For example, for each procession of blade hit it will still deal physical damage, but the physical damage will be reduced and that reduced damage will be replaced with bleeding, poison, or burning of equal damage, but just simply done over time. This give’s people a chance to blow some cleansing to mitigate some of the damage.
Uhm that is not the topic ^^ And the traps are not strong compared to other classes stuff. LB #2 an #5 are stronger than traps.
This thread is about the traps not showing. They are bugged.
There needs to be a interaction that causes the visual effects not to show.

Spells that do quite some damage shouldn’t be bugged invisible until february or something. It really deserves a hotfix.
agreed,
it drives me crazy when i get caught in the DH’s trap that locks you in place and so keep getting knocked down, but as it’s invisible i have no idea when I’m safe to try and move again so have to blindly guess at whether I should stay int he other aoe and keep attacking, or try and dodge out of it
I made a thread about this problem in the bugs forum recently, but I haven’t gotten any red responses yet. I was really hoping that they’d have it fixed by now, this really is game breaking given how powerful DH traps and walls are even when you can see them.
And here I was thinking I had a crappy PC and it was all my fault not seeing stuff (even though no fps drops happen at all). Sometimes I can’t see my own traps triggering, so I have to hope people are taking damage, and other times I have no idea where the damage I’M taking is coming from. This is seriously out of hand, and it also happens with wells sometimes, as well as necro cloud.
Now it wouldn’t really be a trap if you could see it…

you know we’re not talking about before their sprung, but when already sprung yeah?
I agree DH traps are out of control and need a fix. It shouldn’t be possible to kill me instantly on stepping unto a point.
they’re not running invisible traps in the esl, so Anet doesnt care.
it’s very annoying to die or being struck in invisible traps, considering DH is very popular at the moment fixing these graphic effect should be a priority

If you’re insta dying to traps, it’s a l2p issue.

If you can’t see the traps in the first place it’s not a l2p issue.
Yes, because real world traps are visible and not camouflaged.. amirite?
Honestly guys if you are going to put a giant visible circle on the ground that screams dont step here.. whats the point of a trap to either a DH or a Ranger?
You want to go that route, fine, lets us throw them like wells and other AoE attacks instead of having to place them, i could live with that. Never understood why the disparity in that sense exists anyway.

Another one who didn’t read what I wrote ^^
It’s quite sad that I’m describing a bug for ToF and PoB and 80% of comments here completely miss the topic, kittentalking each other over l2p and OP traps.

fair enough i missed that, sorry… im just sick of the complaints about traps, my bad
I’m not one to hold a grudge and like I said before I think LB#2 and LB#5 are the dh’s stongest abilities. With the visuals fixed traps would be fine and defenitely not OP.
But with so many visuals bugged it is very irritating and quite gamebreaking in some situations.
Therefore back to topic… it deserves a hotfix.

people dont like to read things
In addition to traps, I seem to be having issues with Spear of Justice not rendering. I’m getting yanked around, unpleasantly so, without any visual cues. There should be a greater dwell before being able to activate the pull.
