Gw2 is a masterpiece at it’s foundation. Content-wise however…
I love this game. It’s combat mechanics, philosophies, etc.
When the Manifest-Trailer was released, I stopped PvP:ing in World of Warcraft (wasn’t enjoyable when in awe of GW2) and just awaited it’s release while being on forums.
But once I got into sPvP, and Conquest, I didn’t feel like the game “sucked me in” and I still don’t care much for the PvP, even though I love PvP in MMOs. Now, this was something that Battlegrounds (Conq., CTF and so on) in WoW did great. I didn’t care about the gear-progression, but the Battlegrounds where lots of fun!
My question is: Do you feel that a match in sPvP “sucks you in” and is, in a way addictive in the sense that after you’ve completed the match, you feel a strong urge to play again?
Conquest is a fine game mode. Problem is it’s the only game mode. So no I don’t get addictive, because doing the same thing after +4k games gets old.

This x9000
It’s nowhere near addictive as GvG, or at all for that matter.

Agreed.
But did you felt otherwise before it got old?
Conquest is not addictive for me.
It’s the only mode in all mode in pvp who don’t require personal skill. From the time you make a mode who winning fight don’t influence the victory, as putting 10 bot in a game is the same thing.
That’s sad !

You are wrong.

It gets repetitive after a while, so I play on different classes/roles/build instead to get a bit if fresh gameplay.

If you’re looking for something that will still feel fresh after doing it 4000 times, maybe it’s time to take a step back. I read a good book on the psychology of enjoyment a while back. Cliff notes version: if you go to your favorite restaurant every night and order your favorite meal every time, you will quickly stop enjoying it.
I think that would still be true no matter how many game modes GW2 had.
conquest is like any other dish. if you eat it everyday, it gets boring. but if it’s your favorite dish that you want to eat everyday, then you can eat it everyday and enjoying the dish at the same time.

Please stay on topic… I’m really interested in your answers to this (^) question.

Swtor was quite fresh and addictive for me, even after I put thousands of hours into that game’s pvp. That’s because each Warzone was different. It has less maps then GW2, but they were so different it kept my enjoyment.
Huttball <3
Nope.
The only regular exception is lord victories or even losses when you’re just about to win if you kill that lord but don’t make it in time, that’s a climactic end to me that kind of ends up wanting to go again. More irregular exceptions would be boss kill victories when both teams are around 475 points. Temple buffs are climactic but the match doesn’t end that way.
Khylo kinda boring, forest outside of those clutch bosses is boring, capricorn is boring, sky hammer is quirky but broke as kitten, and Spirit watch has clutch scoring too with orbs but the implementation rubs me the wrong way and I do not like it.
So all in all nope, Conquest is only addictive when it ends on an impactful note and it rarely does.

Conquest is always fun for me in all games, but like its been mentioned a gazillion times, its boring to hell when its the only one.
What i cant figure out is why on earth they did not added things from GW1 into the game ,even since release?
Correct me if im wrong on this, but isnt it the same Anet?
We had TDM game types there, we had GvG ,hell i even miss JQ and FA battles.
There is a huge part of the player base that have not played gw1 and im sure they could love those and boost the game up on market, yet all those things left out…
I don’t know but releasing a sequel of a pvp based game with half of the pvp content cut is a step backwards imo.
I understand that it is a free to play game but im not expecting all those to come for free , give us an expansion then,i ll gladly pay for something that i really like and im sure im not the only one.
tldr WTB Cantha or Elona 2.0 (and the pvp with it) ,its been a year + already!

+1. I like it, but it does get boring doing just the one mode all the time. Like you OP, I was really keen about the game for its spvp, and similarly disappointed that it only had one game mode.
