Like mentioned above in the title I just want to know if the PvP in this game is fun and worth coming back leveling my lvl 40 character which I created at the release of gw2, up

Is there a big gap in gear between players who are playing for years or new players?

I am playing archeage atm and the pvp there is very unbalanced so I’m wondering maybe gw2 is the game I’m looking for right now

There is no gear gap. Gear is no factor in PvP, you select your stats and upgrades from PvP Build window. A few of the options can be unlocked with gold, but they aren’t really better than those that are available from the start.

Well seeing as you can now level in PvP as well that is something to consider… about the worth it part of your post I can’t really say.

Still conquest (capture points) all the way, at least until stronghold comes along with HoT. Overall PvP now is bit less of a separate game from the rest of GW2 than it was at launch. You can still definitely do exclusively PvP but it is pretty different from launch.

PvP is a bit of a shambles right now as a huge patch dropped about a month ago, as such I’d imagine there will be a lot of balancing tweaks over the next few months but it’s all based on skills and class abilities.

Armor and weapons have no relevance in GW pvp outside the aesthetic.

Long story short it’s a pretty volatile environment atm but it’s still great fun and it’s non-sub so I’d suggest you just jump in and check it out. That will answer your query far better than anyone else’s opinion.

Only play for the reward tracks/dailies, and nothing else.

Yes I’d say its worth coming back. I just started PvP myself and am enjoying it. Matchmaking is not as bad in my experience as it seems from reading the forums. Just start out in Unranked.

I still enjoy PvP but i would say it is more frustrating now than it has been in the past few months. The pacing of everything is way different, and in general spike damage is absurd right now so it can make cutting your teeth painful, but i would still recommend someone check it out.

PvP become more frustrating with each balance update.

But metrics tell devs that we’re pleased and want more.

It’s not worth it. One wrong decision results mostly in death – due to bursting. And lately the servers have trouble following client input, so you get the FPS style lag compensation – like “enjoying” 3-4 seconds worth of stacked burning compressed into 1 second on the receiver’s end, character position desynch, skill lag (skills seemingly activating, but actually cancelling each other due to ‘burst’ connection.. that is like all buttonpresses sent in one go..).
The game simply can not handle the current design and connectivity.

Its worth playing if you’re patient in learning your class. As some have mentioned, June 23rd brought about the apocalypse and we’re just crawling out of our vaults and watching what has become of the landscape after that bomb has been dropped.

In spite a recent patch that left at least 2 classes a bit over powered, the PvP gameplay is faster paced compared to launch and the game itself is still very balanced on the competitive level.

Word of advice? Take every forum comment with a grain of salt. The majority here don’t play competitively, they run glassy builds and people think every aspect of the game needs a nerf. If you want to just PvP, pick a class, grab a Meta build, enter HotM and learn every skill and rotation the class has to offer. Then visit its class Forums and ask questions.

The highest skill gap classes are Elementalists, Thieves and Mesmers, in that order. There is no “Gear” in the game. Only differences of skill levels :)

PvP right now is pretty fast and kinda unforgiving. I find myself enjoying it a lot, though.

Compared to GW2 at release, the PvP rewards are a lot better and easier to use. It’s actually a pretty good way to unlock skins nowadays.

I like to mix PvP and WvW. I’m not sure I’d recommend the game to someone who only wanted to play PvP. But since you own it already, there’s really no downside to giving it a try.

if you are smart enough ot to buy a pet rock you will be fine. Every person who hates PvP atm hates the high dmg and the easy answer to it is to not run zerk or sin amulet. If you refuse to change at all from a basic thought you will struggle. If you can realize logically if i run high defense with condi removal i wont die quickly you will be alright.

Currently there is a post about a zerk warrior losing to 2 burst thieves. If your one of these people like the other people who posted about how they die to quickly id pefer you didnt come back.

PvP is not worth coming back at the moment. Bad class balance makes it a rather disappointing experience.

That is a warrior with a Knight Amulet and Soldier runes. Next time, learn to read.

I would say no, the balance is very slowly coming together but ATM it is a mesmer/ele/rampage fest.

If conquest hasn’t driven you completely mad yet, then yes GW2 is worth coming back to! The combat system is the best in the genre!

If you only want to play PvP, purchasing the expansion is a questionable decision! $50 for a new trait line and new class doesn’t seem worth it to me!

ohhh i understand what it said but i run a pure glass warrior build and i have 21k health with 1 trait going toward more vitality.

I have 2 guild mates running bunker warriors and 1 runs 2 shouts with 2 banners and he has around 3.5k defense and and 31k health. So to me when i see it im calling bs even though they wrote down what there using. The other runs cele ammy with more defensive minded traits and he has almost 28k health.

So tell me if im crazy or hes lying or maybe some other possible answer
