Cause there isn’t any right now I’m really tired of going up against people like completely way better then me. Like no chance whatsoever get killed in 4 secs better then me.

I’m what you call absolutely mouth breathingly kittenedly bad at spvp. So literally 99% of the entire game must be better then me. Can we get some kind of matchmaking so I can like fight other people that are terrible.

Its astonishing how negative Spvp feedback is right now and how we’re literally getting no word other then a new map. Which will most likely get thrown outta the ranked rotation anyway.

Within the last 2 months I feel matchmaking has gotten better. Especially in terms of class stacking, whether that be 3 guards vs 3 thieves or some other combination.

The biggest problem with matchmaking is that it takes 500 games to make up a player’s skill factor. Even Anet has said that there really isn’t a huge difference between the #1 ranked player and #999 ranked player. The difference, skill coeficient wise, is minutely small. It needs a lot of games to build.

Then there’s team synchronizations, different strategy mentalities that may or may not sync up well.

I’ve played other Moba games and I will say that gw2 matchmaking is either on par, or better, than theirs. Not to mention the 2-5m queue times are also very similiar in spite this game’s lower pvp population.

That may be well and true for the 1 through 999, but it doesn’t mean squat for the bottom 999. The new and terrible players, who get matched with people WAY out of their league….consistently. The matchmaking system is just terrible. If it can’t handle new or casual players, it’s a terrible matchmaking system. I don’t give a toss about high ranked people.

The fact that me as a solo queue terrible player get matched up against teams, that are good, is just stupid. They HAVE to separate solo and group queue. And please fix hotjoin, it’s a cesspool.

I have an idea.

Remove hotjoin.
Keep custom arenas.

Have:

1. Ranked solo queue
2. Ranked team queue
3. Unranked queue

Adjust MMR given to new players.
Adjust matchmaking so it corelates with MMR’s.
Let us do something between queues, so people won’t complain about longer queue times.
Put a number of unranked games played requirement on ranked.
Do balance patches once a few weeks, not months nor years.
Fix your leaderboards.

Easy fix, everyone’s happy.

OH YEAH and remove the kitten profession dailies, there is a post almost every day about it. Everyone hates it, get rid of it finally.

+1 to this and OP. I’ve been thinking the exact same thing.

I would love to play sPvP. I played a little at launch but then got into WvW. I tried to come back and play some recently but just got rekt.

I’m not good, I’ll never be good but I like to pvp. Its fun to fight other players when you’re of similar skill. There either doesn’t seem to be pvp’ers of low skill in this game mode or the matchmaking is terrible.

Maybe all the low skill players have been driven out by being rekt. Maybe its that there isn’t really a sPvP game mode for casual PvP’ers.

That’s probably it. In GW1 you had AB and FA/JQ for casual PvP’ers. Here you don’t have that alternative. I doubt they’ll be able to fix the matchmaking so I’m just hoping that Stronghold becomes that casual PvP mode. That way new/bad players can go there and have fun and also an opportunity to get better without getting immediately rekt.

They really just need to follow the GW1 system. Random and team arena. If you win as random you got queued up together again and after so many wins in a row you get sent to team. It was fun getting to team and then promptly destroyed.

Sometimes, after fighting the same group the third time in a row, I’m not sure that there are more than 100 People playing at a time. So if 99% are better then you that would be all 99 other plasyers. :-(

I’ve said before that matchmaking is the worst part of PvP. It is horrible. A few key changes need to be made:

1. Implement a solo queue and a team queue. (Great new concept right?)
2. Matchmaking should be based on class specific MMR. Just because someone is great at once class doesn’t mean they are good at another.
3. A 4 or 5 person premade should NEVER face a group of 5 pugs. NEVER
4. In a pug match, ensure no more than 2 of a class on a team

Assuming they add all of those changes in, queue times would be a half hour. Why? Because like 45 people play spvp at a time. It’s literally the same small amount of people.

Something needs to be done to increase numbers, a brilliant way for that is to increase all unranked and below to 8v8 and only have ranked be 5v5. Many casuals have literally no desire to ever hit ranked play, me being one of them. 8v8 means me being absolutely terrible has less of an impact on the team as a whole. I can go around and follow somebody else and see what they’re doing without costing the entire match really.

I took nearly two years off of GW2, came back with zero rank my first few games where against very good players much better then average, one team was a guild group.

Matchmaking is busted, must really suck for new players trying to leave pvp and improve against players close to their skill level.

Make queue longer if you have to.

There is no matchmaking ever since they decided to reset the leaderboards and all MMR.

I’ve had an incredible luck with the MM lately, and most of my games are challenging.

heartless: I think one of the problem you might be experiencing is that there are not many totally new players in pvp. I started playing in pvp in april 2014 when it was completely revamped, and a lot of players joined with me, which means I had fun with other terrible players.

There has been an influx of new players since the HoT announcement I believe, but it doesn’t compare to april 2014 or the launch of the game. So there is simply not many people as bad as you.

Fortunately however, you’ll find as you get better that pvp is full of terrible players. So if you practice a bit you’ll find better games in no time (in soloq, some will still be frustrating, because soloq rotations are terrible, but that’s a different issue). Here is some advice:

- Make friends in the game. It’s easy because most people are nice when you get to know them.
- Duel with your friends to learn about your build.
- Play in Practice until you get bored (around 1-2 games :P), to learn how to act in outnumbered situations.
