Necromancer/Casual Warrior
[Team] Best WvW guild of all time. EASILY.
Q:
I heard in the latest patch that they did a balance patch but listened to all the NA crowd who say “itz mite stacking bro not celestial giving 30% more stats!!”.
Is that true? Surely it can’t be. Surely they didn’t do a balance patch and not nerf the amulet used by 60%+ of players?
A:
Yes they didn’t nerf it. Everyone is very confused :P
On a side not, as always you make very good points lordrosicky. I must say I really respect your forum posting abilities. You are a true icon of these forums.
Something tell me that you hate celestial
Instead of nerfing celestial cancer balance team prefer to nerf core game mechanic.

They nerfed Celestial by nerfing Might stacking.

Ah, yes! Those celestial builds of mine that rely on might stacking to become effective didn’t get nerfed….. Oh wait!
So have you ever played cele engi without might stacking?
It’s still strong as *
That little might nerf won’t change much to ele and warrior cause they are not that dependand on battle sigil

Right, exactly. Funny how there was no issue with Might stacking until they dumped this amulet straight into the game.
But of course that’s GW2 in a nutshell for you. It’s a group of around 20+ or so diehards who have a blurry and open border with the dev team. They’re all the same people and pal up with one another regularly. Neither understand that much about how the game works but they’re very convinced of their echo chamber opinions. Dhuumfire was an attempt to respond to “high level” players who had zero clue on what Necromancers offered, for instance.
Blind leading the blind.
It’s a very small nerf…imo they needed to change the ability for these classes to stack might rather than might itself.

Original use of your second account.
yea it basically didnt change anything. Slight damage nerf and thats about it.
EU players just mad at celestial amulet because they are fixated with bunker guardians.

Hah, like Arenanet listens to any one group over another. I mean, a scapegoat for perceived balance problems would be nice for you, but really, PvP players incepting the Dhuumfire idea in the Developer’s dreams. That’s my daily dose of humor, lol.

Perhaps you could try brushing up on your reading comprehension, I said burning was the devs’ ill-guided response to uncreative and insular players who believed Necromancers were impossible to fit into teams. If there was no understood issue then there never would’ve been the need for a ‘solution’. But frankly your quick to kneejerk response — note that I never named Chaith.8256 in my post — says it all really.
What about limiting team to one each type of amulet? You can have two ele or engi but only one of them can use cele – the other would have to use something else. Wouldn’t this prevent class and amulet stacking?
Sorry if my suggestion sounds stupid, I’m new to spvp :P.

No you didn’t name him but it’s pretty clear which players you are talking about. I don’t understand the infatuation some of the players have with assuming the only reason the abjured, dod, players etc are in some sort of brotherhood with the devs… and they that aren’t really that good. kittening play against them and then tell me they aren’t good. Or just make more excuses why you aren’t esport.

It’s no big deal, even if the top teams were being asked for feedback, it’s a common perception of the peanut gallery that other people’s feedback reflects a lack of knowledge/ability, selfishness, and that of course the real issue is clear from the backseat. Ain’t even surprise me anymore’.

It would give us insane que times.
Instead of nerfing might, they should nerf the ways you apply might, and who has access to it. You do this by simply reducing time span across the board, or hitting those classes specifically who are abusing it. Reduce time. Reduce stacks. Don’t reduce the effectiveness of might itself.
We have all these boons that don’t mean much; now it’s just a watered down boon. This is exactly what happened when they nerfed confusion. Oh look, they just rebuffed it again…

I bolded this part because you followed my response with the exact same thing that Chaith did and it’s terribly funny to me. You either don’t see or don’t care how you’re making my argument without any help on my part. I said nothing in specific and yet everyone not only knows who these people are (by name no less) but feels aggrieved enough to come rushing to defend themselves when the ink’s still drying.
In any case I see little reason to continue stating my case since so many of these people are delusional and inured to criticism. They complain about being powerless while they affect the only major balance changes the game ever sees (the latest patch could’ve been a wishlist coming from any one of them — how terribly convenient that might was the problem all along). They portray themselves as opposite the devs even though one of the only known PvP staffers pals around on TS and apparently spends most his working day schmoozing. The names change but the modus operandi stays the same. I could’ve said the same thing about the devs’ unhealthy obsession with Team Paradigm back in the day. I don’t know if ANet just wasn’t confident in their product (possible) and felt the need to seek approval but this issue has been with us from well back before the beta even.
By the way this game itself is not e-sport and with the self-serving attitudes and unwillingness to change on the part of the devs (as well as the diehards and co.) I doubt it’ll be changing any time soon. At this point in time the original GW had been through something like half a million US dollars in competitive prize pools and two world championships with proper LAN matches, and this was a game that was much more complex than its sequel with no Youtube or Twitch or modern advertising amenities to support it. Evidence of something gone terribly wrong speaks for itself.

Yeah yeah, evidence speaks for itself, top players affect the only balance changes the game’s ever seen, everything must be how it appears, you’re not actually saying anything, everyone else but you is on the defensive (even after posting this). We understand.
I’m also pretty sure changing might as a boon itself was on very few people’s forum balance wishlists, if any, where shaving Cele amulet by 25-34 stats was more popular.
Nah, instead of nerfing the three classes that make best use of might stacking and the cele amulet, they nerfed everyone who uses might!
Because, you know, if EVERYONE hits for less damage, then the celestial eles will be easier to kill, right?

Because everyone else was stacking Might by switching Kits/Attunements.
Behind the scope of nerfing an amulet, I don’t see how the basic truth, the abjured members being the best players on their respective professions, would change.
Doesn’t look like there were any more changes other than what was listed in the preview…
Pretty poor balance patch I have to say.
You didn’t actually expect them to touch celestial amy did you? That would be direct nerf to engis in pvp and god forbidd anet would give any meaningful nerfs to engis!
Community: Eles can stack might too easily
ANET: Cool, let’s nerf might for everyone
Engis were OP before and will be even more OP now (relatively speaking to other classes). This game really needs a balance team. Right now, it does not appear that one exists.

They won’t be more OP. This is a positive change for builds that don’t stack might.
There were other classes who could stack might though (like rangers). And rather than bring them up to the same level they have made them completely un-viable.
So in a way this patch also hurts build diversity, which is a bad thing.

You are delusional. You need to try and understand why the devs would balance the game from the top. Otherwise their esports goal is kittened. If you don’t want this game to ever become esports well then… that’s what YOU want.

You’re wrong on almost every aspect.

So in a way this patch also hurts build diversity, which is a bad thing.
Hm? Of the tPvP builds that Rangers are concerned with, stacking might is not a feature in any of the meta ones. The Ranger often has sweet nothing in terms of tools to blast might.
If you mean the fact you liked to run double Battle Sigil, Strength runes, you could get like, maybe 12 might.. that’s not a nerf to any specific profession. That’s mostly a nerf to battle sigil.
The meta Engineer Cele build will probably still use Hoelbrak & Battle against immobilize heavy comps, but using Pack Runes and Leeching offers a good alternative.
For Rangers, there are tons of (better) options other than Battle Sigil and +Might duration runes to begin with, don’t be alarmed.
The shave that’s hard to get around will be to the Cele Bunkers, Might stacking Ele/War. They have so much inherent might stacking ability, they are still much better off using Battle and blasting might.
Really, the only balancing that needs to be done a bit swifter, is the Guardian & Ranger vs. Ele & War as the 2 node-holder spots on a team. It’s clearly either Ele/Ele, or Ele/War, unless you want to be winning less matches.
The reason why Ranger and Guardian are much poorer choices in node holder spots, than Ele and War, simply because their damage output and sustain added together as a total value is far inferior.
The fact that the professions that will always might stack have been shaved, and:
Ranger & Guardian have seen some tiny buffs, it is only a positive thing in terms of closing the gap to the goal of seeing a Ranger or Guardian replacing/being interchangeable with an Ele or Warrior.
I just really think that if they took off 38 stat points from Celestial Amulet, so it’d not bug OCD people, and be 400 stats a piece, that would be another proper shave for Cele Engi, Ele, and War. This would make Ele/War more in line with Ranger/Guard as node holders, and Cele Engi more in line with other roamer builds.

If I wanted some dime store psychology I’d go over to the local community college. My point was the game needs to be balanced from the top down. Next time please refrain from the psy 099 gibberish. Even the person who makes these threads and pats himself on the back understands this game better than you =)

I wonder, though. Ranger might stacking comes from pets, auras, and signets mostly. The battle sigil nerf does not really affect our might stacking ability as much.
I kind of like celestial where it is, by the way. Shaving stats would make it too weak to use I think. I use it from time to time on ranger and it feels pretty good as is. If it were weaker, there would really be no reason to bring it over the other amulets. I am no expert with other classes, so can’t speak on their behalf.
I heard in the latest patch that they did a balance patch but listened to all the NA crowd who say “itz mite stacking bro not celestial giving 30% more stats!!”.
Is that true? Surely it can’t be. Surely they didn’t do a balance patch and not nerf the amulet used by 60%+ of players?
nah they just nerfed might stacking a bit..but not enough to change this meta, they just toned everyone down so tiers are still the same while leaving bs like incendiary powder (Now comes with random torment proc too yeah) and ele’s permaregen/vigor/protection untouched…while keeping in mind that ele’s mightspam is so reterded that they can still keep 20+ might up with ease after patch
so…at the end of the day…eles and engis still out of hand
(edited by Archaon.9524)
Im not that bothered by it but i have to say the might nerf does affect mesmer some with might shatters / or bountiful dissilusionment. You can sustain quite a bit of might
Didn’t really notice a difference with the might stacking in sPvP today. I was still able to maintain 25/near 25 stacks of might on cele ele and the damage difference was not substantial. Seems like non meta classes that rely on might stacking(certain guardians, warrior, thief) get hit pretty hard but the meta classes (cele ele) don’t notice a difference. Changes don’t really make sense but whatever.
If it were me I wouldn’t nerf the amount of might you can get, or the damage, but rather the duration. 30 seconds of might shouldn’t exist. Might should be there to assist someone in delivering a heavy burst, not kept the entire fight.

Didn’t really notice a difference with the might stacking in sPvP today. I was still able to maintain 25/near 25 stacks of might on cele ele and the damage difference was not substantial. Might stacks capped at 15 in PvP
Voilà might problem solved
But nooooo let’s nerf everything in the wrong way.

It’s called anet’s way to fix stuff….trying to balance the game by breaking it even more with every patch since 2012
Might needed an adjustment. They’re scaling back might to see if it fixes some of the celestial issues. If celestial is still a problem, I imagine they’ll scale that back as well.
Personally, I laugh at people who think celestial is a problem. Every “problem” with celestial becomes irrelevant without might stacking.

Or they will shave might again and adjust the celestial stats, double tap make sure it is dead.

Nope, the tears will flow about Celestial Engineer without a single might stack for some time to come.
minor nerf to ele
no nerf to rifle engi
might nerf for everybody
gg wp.
hambow hits even more like a wet noodle now.
Forceful Greatsword, Signet of Rage, Versatile Power nerfed for no reason.
Hello devs.
(edited by Simon.3794)
instead of nerfing thief or warrior or the frakin engi they went for ele coz all the babies cry if you are an average player u should have no problem fighting an ele to start with now they destroyed the only viable pvp build ele has and kitten thieves can still burst like kitten and stealth anytime good work
An ele can’t bunker like a warrior, can’t move fast as a thief( unless using a huge CD elite and even then they fall short) and can’t apply as much pressure as an engy in any reasonable amount of time…only thing eles can do “well” is outsustain you to death..and that doesn’t go well for your average player who consider ele is favourite target given his low HP pool and high CD skills
Ele can bunker better than war
Ele can move almost as fast as a thief
Ele can apply as much pressure as an engi, aside on dead bodies ( poison granedes help there).
You’re wrong on almost every aspect.
yeah sure ele can bunk a lot but u need to be good player to combine the right skills for toughness AND most players can’t i have play a lot pvp and it’s a matter if i had find 1 good ele that gave me problem and i am not pro, what i want to say is that they nerfed a build that wasn’t so OP and IT WAS THE ONLY RELIABLE BUILD TO PLAY PVP and don’t tell me that the sc/d or the focus builds have any chance they are like free kills for thieves AND playing an ele at average skill level needs a lot more skill than a kitten hambow or a kitten dagger/pistol thief that has OP burst and a tone of stealth wont ever bother about talkin about engi….now what they did is made ele useless for pvp.
I still don’t understand what the benefit of using the cele amulet is.
I’m not sure if the ramifications of the patch have fully seeped in yet, and a lot of people seem to be completely glossing over some really significant things (hello, sigil of torment).
This patch has definitely tipped the balance towards condi-centric builds as opposed to might-stacking hybrids, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the abundance of D/D eles in high level teams is phased out in favor of something else.
I honestly prefer this kind of balance through buffs and promoting build diversity rather than hard nerfs.
This patch honestly didnt change anything… I usually dont complain about those ridiculous patches but this is the biggest joke i ever saw since literally nothing changed xD
