Been told by people in my guild that i need to be rank 10 before they take me in tournament team because you get better gear after that?

You are correct. However, most don’t take players under r10 for tournaments. Sounds like a poor excuse they gave you.

Yes, everything you get for structured/competitive PvP is purely cosmetic. The way it should be.
