Is sPVP essentially a MOBA?
its the reason why gw2 pvp is slowly dieing
this kitten fokus on moba and fps games – gw2 is an mmorpg and has an mmorpg playerbase
What’s a MOBA for me:
- progression inside of a match with buying items and leveling up
- towers, npcs, and the base
Is SPvP like that? Not at all! Do I want that experience in GW2? NO!
I think you mixed the elo / queue experience from the moba games with the moba style itself. Your suggestions are still good, and are still useful even for a game which is not a moba.
Would the game profit, if you change the hotjoin servers to a unranked queue system?
This is hard to tell. For me this is just a very different atmosphere.
In the current hotjoin I can easily jump in and out every time I want. In the TPvP-Queue I can (or better should) only join, if I have the time to complete the game.
Personally I still prefer the TPvP-Queue experience. Once you are out of the so called ‘elo-hell’ it’s just more fun to play.
But I don’t think forcing the people to do so, is the right direction.

I would only go as far as to say the game is heavily influenced by MOBA games. I think conquest can work but the size of the capture points need to be resized and made much large in addition to having the team with the most players on point start capturing so that a single bunker can’t delay the cap for a excessive amount of time.
The larger size will make AoE spam less effective and the more BF3-esqe capture style would make hard bunkers less effective. I like the idea of the side objectives but some need to be improved. There may need to be a cap on how many players actually affect the capture timer so that it discourages zerging. They should also do away with the current point systems. I get that they wanted to stay away from things like K/D ratios but because you currently gain a lot more points from capturing points than you do defending them people in soloQ will still try and zerg for easy points…points that get you glory that are currently worthless so why people don’t go for the win more I don’t know.
Either the points needs a total redesign or they need to start giving more points for defending and half the points for captures. Spectator mode could also use more statistics so you can gauge how well a particular player is doing.

Is sPvP like MOBA? Not in the slighest.
Have we suggested MOBA maps for sPvP? Since a year back in the beta.
Not much more to say really.
The arena join format is a LoL copy, the hotjoin is an FPS copy.
The gamemode is slightly about PvP.
And only one gamemode, maybe enough for a moba but you know what, This is an MMO, And you know what else? This is a sequel that took nothing from its predecessor but the name it doesn’t deserve.

MOBA means Mobile Online Battle Arena, so even COD can be called a MOBA. This term is bad if we’re talking about Dota or League of Legends

Yeah, exact. Whenever I hear the word MOBA I wanna puke.
ps. Do you know what’s another thing that kitten es me off? When people type like this: ask a question and then answer it when they could just say
“People typing like this kitten me off”.
