Is sPvP not being updated anymore?
No resources. Don’t expect much more from this game.
From my understanding they’ve decided to do balance patches much less frequently. Give the meta a chance to develope by itself and what not. As for other things I think they’re having the game in a brief intermission till season 2.

I think so too, but I’m worried that once season 2 begins they will focus on that instead of focusing on SPVP.
It seems ArenaNet has given up on sPvP altogether lately.
What’s going on?
Well…since every update is one more step into oblivion let’s say i’m pretty ok with no updates. At least they wouldn’t buff turret engis or try to balance wars adding triple sigil on 1 handed and buffing strength runes from 7 to 10% along with making all ranks 10k each because pve heroes still crying ….are you really…really sure you still want updates?

What’ is Spvp? thought this was a PVE game…

PvE wasn’t updated either so what is your point? All the did was adjust the timers and fix WvW reward chest bug or did you see the long list of timer changes and bug fixes and decide to rush off to the forums?
Don’t expect any changes to PvP at least until july 1st.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
For me they focus right now in the new season 2 of living story, that i believe wil7l be a huge update and will bring a lot of new content to this game. or i least i hope so.
After the release of the new season 2 living story they will bring some love to spvp again, im for sure of that. lest give them sometimes.

lolol. This definitely made me laugh. I agree with you that this is probably the opinion of the dev team. Unfortunately for the players, this is also the lazy approach. It is pretty obvious already how the meta has evolved.
What PvP needs:
1. A balance team that speaks less in cliche and focuses more on results
2. A map design team that understands that simple is better than more gimmicky.
3. A matchmaking team that understands how to better pair opponents
4. A PvP team that understands how to build long term incentives to get people to play.

You must be new here, so I will help you out. That isn’t going to change anything. Simply put, they don’t have the resources to support this game (in pvp) the way we players want them to. Which means, infrequent updates/patches.

Sad thing is that this is actually true..
This is why B2P for a MMO is a broken model – once you spend the $$$ to buy the game, they have little incentive to keep players happy – they want you to spend regularly in the gem store or stop playing completely to keep their network costs down.
The best way to bleed players is to focus virtually all development resources on producing stuff that can be bought through the gem store, so non-buyers get bored and leave.
And this is exactly what they do.
I hope in new reward tracks for the next patch
And i hope seasons & league soon.
Very few chances for a new game mode in a short time.

both team fortress 2 and dota 2 are free to play games, yet they make lots of monies.
why is that?

Because they were developed as a good games with an aim to be entertaining for the most casual and most competitive player only then there was a cash shop added. Alas gw2 was not.

owww. tough luck for us gw2 then.
Well, supposedly (uuuh, rumors) Arenanet involved a certain group (can’t remember who) who specialize in making profits in free to play games, such as the gem purchased items for cash in GW2. Whether or not it worked, I don’t know.
I’d pay for an expansion that included new pvp game modes, new weapons, new profession, new and much harder dungeons (10-man) and new explorable parts of the world, including an elder dragon or two. The dragon bosses (Jormag (not claw), Primordus etc.) should be accessible via a dungeon/instance, so it doesn’t require you to fight overflow (you still get on overflow at Tequatl) and don’t require 90 skilled people that agree to follow your lead. A nice 10-man dungeon, where you need to fight your way to the top and face the tough bugger. Available on severeal difficulties, so beginners don’t complain.
I digress. A few balance changes once a while would be good. If not only to improve very lackluster utilities (ele signets for instance), builds, weapons etc..
Did someone forget that the last big patch (the Feature Patch) had more sPvP stuff than PvE-stuff?

Sorry, but what kind of comment is this?
Do I have to remind you that PvP got updated on a 6 months basis? While, I dunno, PvE and WvWvW have had a ton of more TLC to it than PvP will ever recieve?
What happened in the feature patch was just balancing… That is not something we should be hyped about, that is something that has to occur on a regular basis (monthly if possible) in order to stop certain builds from going completely nuts for months – previous builds were Decap Engi, Dhuumfire Necro and the neigh invinsible Hambow, which now have been replaced by Power/Bunkers in general… Yes, the “Meta” became more enjoyable, but there are still things that are freakishly stupid (Like Mesmers being almost completely shut down within PvP and Rangers having nothing but the same builds for almost a year)…
I take it that you have never played PvP otherwise you would’ve known this… Balancing is needed, but not on a 6 months basis and not while any other mode within the game get more attention on either a bi-weekly update, or in the form of ingame tournaments… You have to thank Mistpedia for hosting the PvP tournaments, and not Anet, if anything, the lack of hype and promotion for the tournaments is astonishing (yes there are multiple, check the ESL site)
On the other hands, the Developers have shown to have great interest in the saying of the community at this very moment, this can clearly be seen by the amount of red-posts within threads that suggest UI improvements, and new gamemodes…
But I call you out on this one last time… Balancing is not something we should’ve been too happy about – it is something that should come more natural and more frequently… What people are waiting for is, say, Leagues… You know, those things introduced withing WvWvW, which has been asked for, for nearly a year?

Leave WvW out of this.
Your quarrel is with the gem store, open world PvE and the Living Story.
WvW, SPvP and Dungeons are all neglected sections of the game. Equally neglected.
At least SPvP has better rewards than WvW now.
@Lordkrall
It had more PvE things.
WvW got nothing except PvE cross-overs like sigils and rune changes.
SPvP got reward tracks. While aesthetic customization was destroyed.
PvP modes are the “endgame” in every MMO.
Stop failing at PvE, start fixing PvP/WvW. Thank you.

Oh do you mean the stupid “casual friendly” patch that just gave the last blow to competitive pvp and threw thousands of hous in pvp and millions rank points straight into trash making everyone r55 because poor pve heroes with thousands of golds whining cause someone had better titles and ranks than them? Oh no, trust me, we didn’t forget…at all…i still want my 2kk+ points from r69 (Should have been 70 or more now) back since i can’t get back the time i wasted for them since start..(And no…no sh farm btw)

We got PvE stuff! Not just that, but easily obtained PvE stuff!
Do you honestly think a serious competitive scene is interested in that? Rewarding with the same exact things that everyone else has?
What this community clearly has been craving for is their own shinies, recognition and PvP related rewards – be it titles, ranks and finishers… The last update blew that all!
We got a backpack…. But guess what? You can lose your way to it! There is no prestige to it!
I am no where near one of the hardcore PvP people, but I can clearly see their gripes… Ranks became obsolete, titles became part of standard fashion and pretty much any incentive to make yourself standing out of the crowd is gone!
You sir have to open your eyes and realize that this community has not been asking for any of this… Maybe, and absolutely maybe, the Courtyard – but in the end it is a hotjoin map with no incentive to actually go in there aside from killing stuff…
I stand in HotM on a neigh daily basis, and I recognize the names of PvP groups – but I am one out of 400 of my guild who actually recognizes them… They are unknown to the larger population and that is all because of the lack of attention given to them… I feel for those people, who are trying so hard and achieve nothing…
Competitive scenes are about incentives and recognition – the current model lacks all of it!
Tournament of Legends? Wanna know why I signed up with my team? To see my current standard within the PvP scene, and I am fairly certain a lot of actual PvP teams did the same… Do you honestly think that a legendary is what they really want? Think twice, a legendary is a lot of work, that is for sure, but in the end everyone can get it and thus it shows absolutely nothing…
Then again, I get a huge feeling that you have yet to even step into the world of PvP to remotely understand… You just repeat the fancy lines that were in the lists of updates and say that there is nothing this community has to complain about…
And yes, Realist is right, WvWvW and the Dungeon community are in the same exact corner… Maybe less so in WvWvW since there are titles that are hard to obtain, but aside from that, they offer no incentive to actually get better at either of them since any tool within this game can get the same stuff you get as a reward!
Then again, being unique is a bad thing right? Since you cannot obtain that in PvE…

You cant be serious, can you? There is no way a person is so oblivious that to call “Feature patch” a spvp patch.
Anet removed everything that was given as a reward from pvp players and instead gave pve junk that has no use.
Anet removed free skin swaps and gave nothing in return.
Anet removed the core idea of “everyone is equal in pvp” by adding new traits.
Anet removed 1 map, gave 1 map that can only be played for $
Anet gave a reward system that is as crappy as previous one.
How is that a pvp patch, and not a patch aimed towards pve crowd that also wants the crumbs of uniqueness that pvp players had?
Oh, I get that people don’t like it.
But that wasn’t really the point.
The OP suggested that sPvP was not being updated anymore, which is quite clearly false, seeing as there was quite a bit of sPvP stuff added with the feature-patch.
Stuff exists even if people dislike it after all.

Gold does nothing for people who play PvP – it is an incentive for PvE players to go and play PvP, so that they feel “rewarded”… When people from a competitve scene ask for “rewards” they mean something that feels rewarding in that competitive scene! Gold can be obtained everywhere and can nowhere be near to be a sattisfying reward…
Transmutation charges are a global change, and for PvE I am happy with it… However, they ripped the “Free” system of changing your looks (which represented how well you did mind you) right out of every PvP-ers hands… They have to work for it, not much of an issue, but certainly not a change that everyone liked much…
And you are honestly oblivious about traits… Rerolling is an absolute pain because of the new traits… I more than often lacked the skillpoints a little while ago to give all my alts the traits I wanted and needed, and what is worse, each time I make a new character I have to do it again!
New players who enter PvP and do not have money/skillpoints have it even worse… Sure, you can have a build without that new shiny trait, but it is against the philosophy both this and the previous game offered… Unlocks for competitive play are wrong – no matter in what way they are obtainable…
Also, no, you cannot obtain the same skins, as some where PvP exclusive… To make it worse, the outfits within PvP used to have meaning to them – which has been made completely redundant to the fact that everyone is now running around like a morron with their legendaries (Yes I do have one before you ask)
I do not share the sentiment of the rest of the post, but you are honestly debating against a waterfall here… There was more wrong than right for the PvP scene… Those who truly enjoyed it have nothing to work for…
“Yippee, we are a top team and destroy every team 500-5 – now I get blues and greens like everyone else! So rewarding…”
Lost? Confused? [TCS] – A guild for every state of body and mind
The new reward system is much better than the old one. But does it still feel unrewarding? Yes, it does, but that’s no longer a problem with the pvp team, but instead a problem of how unrewarding the entire game feels like across all game modes.
Anyways, the current balance pace is terrible. To make a comparison, League of Legends just got a very important patch this week – the laste one was about two weeks ago, and the previous one around two weeks before. Underpowered options are consistently being shaved up on a two-week basis. Overpowered options are consistently being shaved down. Whenever something becomes broken, balance-wise, we can expect it to get toned down somewhere soon. Whenever something becomes broken, design-wise, their devs are willing to redesign it. Whenever they nerf or buff too hard, they admit it and revert or half-revert the changes in the patch after. And their communication with the playerbase is done on a daily-basis.
Meanwhile, in GW2 land, half of us are still waiting for most of the underpowered stuff (since, say, the game is out, 2 years ago) to ever be made viable, and the other half is scared of that idea on fear of how much cheese such a change might bring to the game. Serious design issues are still around, but we can probably expect for it to be “too late” to change them, so looking forward to a GW3 would be a more realistic hope. If ever, because most of them were identified by the community because the game’s launch, while anet’s devs didn’t listen because they truly believed the community didn’t know what it was talking about. And then there’s the silence.
My guess, is that anet is satisfied with the current balance state, for now, considering how any small change can screw everything (as history has proven – seems like GW2 is not any easier to balance than GW1 was), and are instead focusing on long term changes (redesigning skills), systems (the “advanced subclasses” they have hinted upon on the CDI) while working on the new game modes and infrastructure. And perhaps tht is the best approach: make some serious design changes to make this game more appealing, and only balance those changes afterwards. Something tells me that’s what they are doing, and if so, I’d agree with it: it’s currently not very important to balance the game, when core issues need to be improved first. But because they’re so silent on this, it gives a very negative idea to us players, as if they weren’t doing much. Which might also be true.
Are you for real?

Please tell me how many time a week you usually change the skins of your armor? Now is fast a easy and you not to manage a infinite amount of the same skin……
Probably only a very very very very small amount of people will feel this change negatively.

Rerolling? For? in 1 year of gold achieved from the pvp fights you have not enough gold to buy 3 character slot? please don’t offend my intelligence.

Yes, aNet turn back to the old rewarding system. I have 250000000 Pvp Salvage kit that need to be used! And the material that i obtain may be used to craft, uhm, let me think, nothing……
Blue and green ftw!!! At lest are gold and i can manage to spend how i need.

All of these forum are speaking about pvp rewards. What kind of rewards will be right for a tpvp match? a Specific sets only for tpvp? A yellow? A Specific skin? A exotic? A Precursor?
I don’t know what people think, this game is all about green, blue and skin obtained with gold or gems, why pvp should be different? The tracks are enough as rewards.
The problems of the pvp are other, ballance in first place and more game modes at second place, rewards probably are the last.
But you are right, we can never reach an agreement.
