Is the skilled heartseeker going to be nerfed
I hope not.
10 char.

I hope so, simply cause I find the skill annoying and not cause it’s OP or anything.
I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve gone into a hotjoin to test a build and have some thief pop out and go “backstab,22222222222222222,stealthrunaway” and do very little damage.
I just think the homing in is a bit unfair, reduce the distance a bit and I think it’ll be a perfectly balanced skill.
Steal, CnD, Backstab, Heartseeker spam. Fartseeker and Backstab have both been nerfed already. You just have to ride it out, and let the Thief waste their initiative. IMO Steal is the worst. 6k crits and its very hard to dodge.
I think, aside from the P/D Thief, that the thief class is in a good place right now. It’s a lot harder to pull off the bursty kills with the quickness nerf.
Nerfing heartseeker would simply ruin the balance they have achieved.

Indeed. Mug is the biggest culprit. If ANet had nerfed that to begin with some of those other nerfs wouldn’t have needed to be so aggressive.
Edit- better analogy: Mug is more akin to the old Kit Refinement. Too much dmg and too build defining for a 10pt trait.
I’ve stayed at this party entirely too long

I think heartseeker should be ground targeted instead of homing. I’d rather have to aim it manually cause it would make it better for general mobility
Post haste nerf, I find that low skill thieves (my skill bracket ), are just food anyway. They don’t need more of a nerf.
If they wanted to increase the skill required to play a thief, then ground targeted HS sounds good, or even just facing requirement.
I think the current biggest problem with heartseeker, is how easy it is to use.
I love ppl complaining about offensive thief skill when the problem is totally different: defensive skills. Stealth, stealth regen, removing condition in stealth and all allow thief to go with offensive gear. Same gear on all other class, but mesmer, means death in 2 seconds as soon as you put your nose out of starting door. Thief doesn’t need a lot of armor or health when stealth is his own armor, with all the skills concerning that.
i hope not
i like hitting 2222222222222222222 and dying in .32573 seconds.
it needs to be in the same concept as the warrior GS #3 skill where you have to aim it. That’ll get rid of the spammers

Thiefs are a problem now?

This concept is pretty much what all skilled thieves use. The pressure they put in stealth with insane dmg is what makes it so crazy as well. We think their health is down to half but when they stealth it goes back up to 75% then they restealth again which hits for at least 3k and they regain their health to 100% by the time they pop out of stealth

Short of an ele, no class can disengage faster with what can amount to 5+ rolls back to back (not even counting SB chains after the fact). Terrible for PvP, mind, but hilarious in WvW where a single thief can dodge roll through a zerg and come out unharmed. Actually, I don’t even think an ele can do that.

A thief has backstab me for 8k then hit me with an heart stike for 6k and i don’t remember the following hits. My necro has 2k7 armor and more than 19k hp but that thief just killed my char when i was under the effect of its basilisk venom (so he needs less than 3sec).
Nice class balance… fortunately we have a leaderboard and the super magic box!
I agree with others that the main issue is the lack of skill required to use it. The concept is generally very boring (just watch your enemies health pool and press 2 when it gets low).
How about increasing the cost to 5 initiative but return 2 initiative on hit? In that way you actually need to think before using it, D/P becomes harder to escape with while still keeping its offensive power, and you cant just spam 2 on a running low HP target to win if it uses its dodges, blinds and blocks well.
Changing the way the targeting works is also an interesting idea.
EDIT: I meant D/P, not P/D. Thanks for the reminder stof.

Spaming 2 on a P/D set? Who loses to that crappy skill? The most useless weapon skill in the thief arsenal.
I think you should all learn to play because heartseeker is not even a skill worth using after the haste nerf.
Everything got covered quickly in this thread.
Nerf HS was the starter. Quickly followed by nerf Mug. Then nerf stealth. Finally, nerf the entire burst.
Good job kids !

Heartseeker is only the main access to backstab in d/p…
I love people who go “hurr durr lp2” and then say stuff like “heartseeker is not even a skill worth using”. Thanks for the laugh man.
That’s a surprise! ANOTHER request for a thief nerf! How original!
./end sarcasm.
