As you can read, there will be a massive update on June 25th.
Main points for SPVP are:

  • Wide-scale revamp of traits and skills for every profession to promote a wider range of playable builds.
  • Custom Arenas and Spectator Mode for PvP are also leaving beta.

Is this the rebirth of Warrior and Necromancer? A diversity to Guardians and Mesmers?

Anyone has some more information?

Anyway let’s hope that it will be a refresh to current staling SPVP

On June 26th, the first page of forums will be flowed over with “fail patch” threads…probably…though, I hope this patch will change things to good…

Devs mentioned that we are going to be seeing at least a new trait change per tree, up to as much as five per tree. This is good news, since there are some traits which are, without fail, never used in spvp (and most probably neither in pve/wvw). Consequently most professions are very much pigeonholed into one or two builds.

Do we also get Skyhammer?

Feeling neutral Not expect much, less disappointed . The only wish I want right now is Anet live up to the description this time, but I won’t be surprised if they don’t.

no news to soloQ so no hope for me – i just dont care for spectatormode or private arenas, im a normal player and dont need this

tried today again soloQ and 5 matches in a row vs premade and one was vs a team with 2 ppl from team IDL and 1 from Chieftain ninjas all rank 50-60 and top 20 leaderboards. im on 70% and my team was max rank 30. lost any hope in this game^^

@Lighter: As Ezrael said, most, if not all, Guardians in high tier TPVP is running nearly same build. Check some famous TPVP streams and you’ll see he is right.

@Romek: It is not patch notes so you can’t be sure, but yeah, solo queue was not mentioned… which is a very bad sign…

with the scope and scale of a solo que from a programming viewpoint, I would guess to say Solo que is a little ways off. This holds true for trait manipulation as well. I hope these changes to traits aren’t ideas from 6 months ago that just now make it into the game….

but I’m with the OP, glass half-full approach

It is merely an opportunity provided to Anet to try and tip the scale from a less negative outlook; that is all. Will they capitalize? I have my doubts sorry to say. For myself – I am going to keep the bar low, and hopefully they’ll exceed my low expectations, so I can be a little less cynical about the past 10+ months of release and open betas.

I am not a pessimist about updates, I simply think that people expect too much no matter what they end up doing, because while some classes may improve, choices will still remain very confined within the trait system and the basic issues of the current PvP.

I’d be much more thrilled if they tackled issues like AoE, bunkers, burst, downstate and team synergy and team work in fights. As it is right now, you can only support with a very limited number of bunker builds on specific classes and those who aren’t bunkers, who can actually support (still in a very limited way) are either built for 1v1s on side nodes or heavy burst or AoE in order to weaken the enemy team as much as possible before going into down state in team fights.

It’s basically a system that promotes bad habits (like knowing you are about to go down and simply going all in in order to weaken the enemy) and thus negates anybody trying to make a difference the opportunity to do so beyond the scope of self sufficiency.

This will not change the gameplay, but could diversify the meta a bit.
Imo that is good news, but I guess people are dissapointed if there are not huge balance fixes, new gamemodes and maps in every single update.
When all classes have at least 2-3 roles/builds that are viable, we could hope for some gameplay revamp which would mean changes to AoE, Endurance and Support.

Imo that is good news, but I guess people are dissapointed if there are not huge balance fixes, new gamemodes and maps in every single update.

You act as if they were doing anything remotely close to that every other patch rather than every single patch. Fact is, we haven’t seen any of it yet, nor is there any indication for it to ever happen.

Each new patch has brought improvements, no matter how small. I have never had my hope “thrown away”. Instead I have had my hopes grow with each patch

Still remember logging into RA that day and chat blowing up, guild chat blowing up, jumping into AB with my bud and that was blown up everyone was excited, some were raging but was exciting :o. Then it were rolling sh@ttering assault sins for life…. brb Nostalgia.

Slow and steady is nice but it is super boring.
Hope they don’t troll with some meh balance update.

  • New condition Torment (confusion on movement)
  • Stun breakers more evenly distributed across classes’ skills

they had to do one thing right: implement solo Q (top priority and all that bs)

they’re not doing that apparently

let’s see how much the game has to die before they realize that priorities are things you have to do sooner rather than later.

lol@giving torment to thieves and mesmers, I hope it’s going to be on not so used abilities in standard builds, or we’ll see stuff like “oh, hi, I’m gonna shatter you for 10k, then you’ll take damage if you try to move away so stand still while I get ready for another burst”
