Just Add Cast Bars
I just started playing RA in gw1 again. There’s a better chance of gw2 having their smallest scale animations normalized than the addition of cast bars.

That probably would cost more money than adding cast bars.
Windows 10
The problem with cast bars, is that they’ll either clutter the screen with bars, or they’ll only be visible when you have someone targetted, which means any untargetted asura who pops out of nowhere from the mess to kill you will remain as unnoticeable with cast bars as he would without them.
The best solution is to normalize the models.

Create cast bars, more obvious/unique animations and adjust skill time. More like guild wars.

Diogo, obviously if you don’t have that tiny Asura targetted, of course you shouldn’t be able to see what abilities he was using (through the cast bar). It was like that in gw1, so it should be similar here.

They wouldn’t clutter anymore than HP bars already do…
And so what if you had to target them to see it (which they shouldn’t, make them appear when HP bars appear), it’s still better than how it is now.
Simply put, animation changes are so unlikely to happen and will take so much more work, it’s something they should’ve done to BEGIN with and I think it’s too late for that.
i’ve been long leaning against cast bars but even in 2v2 animation is so dense that making out whos doing what becomes impossible.
yes, small optional cast bars please.
just make it like how it is in every other game. Cast bars only show when you have the person targeted. Its a really simple fix. It won’t even lower the skill cap at all.
Stunned Girls Can’t Say No <Hawt>
Arena Net wants us to look at the broken animations they make and anyone disagrees to do that does not know art and should either L2P or die in a fire
and anyone who says the reward system is not good is a whiner, should stop QQing. Grind harder and buy more new skins from the Gem Store
I just defined E-sports

I do!
I just fight by looking at my hp bar and cooldowns. now even looking at opponents because basicly.. no time … all i do is staying alive and follow my chains.
1v1 i have no clue what others are casting untill it hits me and i can say: “Ow that attack did X damage.” what attack it was.? who knows..
Especially with assrats.
So yeah, take a look at the game you named this game after for once Anet..
and take the good stuff… ( almost everything) and actually implement it in this game.
Castbars ftw. and if you want to be pro. make an option for people to take it off..
E.A.D.
Why it isn’t in the game since day one is what i would like to know
Especially with assrats.
“assrats”? …. now my sweet little asura feels insulted. He will smite you, bite you in the knee, poke his staff in your privates and with a mighty blow with his mace crush your … toe :’(
OT: wtb castbars as well.

Please add an option (checkbox) “Normalise Asura size for PvP” that makes your Asuras, your team Asuras AND opponents Asuras the size of “humans” on the player screen.
Everyone is happy:
- Devs don’t remove the Asuras,
- People who want small Asuras deal with them on both sides,
- People who want big Asuras don’t have to deal with small ones but have their screen obstructed more as well.
It probably would take about 4 hours to develop that feature since a tall Asura is already the size of a human, and it would be a first step in the right direction.
I agree with casbars and a customizable interface, just as it was in gw1.
I dont wanna play with that giant interface, i just need resize buffs, and be able to customize the interface, as it was in gw1

Anet will never add cast bars and most likely continue to improve on the skill animations. Though from my personal experience from picking gw1 back up again this game is the epitome of training wheels but, that’s just my opinion.
cast bar + killshot = useless
“berserker stance clears all CC on you and you’re still immune to CC for 8 seconds”
-Excalibur.9748
cast bar + killshot = useless
You don’t need a cast bar to see that thing coming lol.

Yea, only if you see him started it. but when he already started

That makes no sense.
There is only one reason a warrior would ever get down on his knees and that’s when he’s using Killshot. Asura are difficult to see though.

I think that devs don’t see how wrong, and caotic is this game. The keep doing videos where they teach us how we should play their game in their dream, but the truth is an other thing: the game is in the caos, the ability of players is only in tattics and not to much in gameplay during fights. This game will be only a shadow of GW1 until devs understand that what they create in GW1 should be reworked and make GW2 a great game, an e-sports. They have to stop defending their game and start to change things, but not balance only, they have to change mechanics.
Like cast time bars, i totally agree but it should be only the starts.
Anyway the devs thought they can create a game that do not need CTB, with great visual animation that allow you to see a skill like in a fight game as Tekken. The problem is that they added race, (it is usless cry again with asura), and too many skills animation are too much similar.

More like
Non-Asura + killshot = balanced
Cast bar + killshot = Asura balanced

It’s also not just the addition of a small race.
It’s the fact that a lot of animations are just too subtle or quick or are shared between attacks.
Then there’s the pet spam, as well as crazy amounts of particle spam, all of this together makes it impossible to intelligently predict and avoid most attacks.

I totally agree, but if it was for me i would totally remove asura, charr and norn from competitive play, with a change of skin like potions of pve.

Or we could just copy paste our cast bar’s and stick them over our head. Lol.

The only reason there would be clutter is because anet has the camera too close to the character. Reason unknown.
Normalizing the model only addresses the asura problem, and not the fact that combat is already difficult to read unless someone is using a hammer.
