Ill save the forums the balance QQ. I wanted to say bravo to the dev team for some precision on the nerfs to rev and mes. Despite my absolute detest for these two classes (Necro main since launch) I am glad the team decided to shave and not sledge their knee-caps out from under them. Hopefully we see some more shaves in general to all classes, all around. I would prefer slow little balance tweaks to everything, all around moving into the next season.

Agreed. I think ANet is getting better at making frequent changes that move the needle in the right direction without swinging it back and forth every patch.

The only downside is that there will always be…certain individuals…who think their class is being picked on because they count the number of nerfs instead of the degree to which they’ve been nerfed and with the shaving approach, you’re more likely to see a class nerfed several times slightly until the right power dynamic is reached.

I have two words for these types of posts Stockholme Syndrome. We are going to have another pvp season where the majority of the player base plays 3 or 4 classes because they are clearly the strongest. By all means keep shaving away. Taking 6 seconds off MOA totally balances the class yup. In another three months, which would make 9 months of Mesmers being op, maybe we will make some more changes to them. As much as I complain I just adapt and play whats strong in the end but I personally find A-nets methods to balancing totally lacking.

You misread. It was not 6 seconds that was taken off moa, it was 4 (10 → 6 = -4)

+1. Small balances on a monthly or bi-weekly basis would be ideal.

Underwhelming.
Mesmer moa should not have been affected by Contin. Split in the first place and this would have resolved the issue. Over all the escapes and defense on a condition spec mesmer is overall reasonably strong. Having access to blocks, blinks, phase retreat, respawned clones, some distortion, blurred frenzy, stealth all whilst having access to bonding condition ticks is creating a build that is garnering animosity from the community. This animosity snow balls into endless amounts of QQ and next minute mesmer is bashed with the ugly stick again. Mesmer has under gone too much of a roller coaster ride over the years because of builds such as this that your average John Q rages about.

Scrapper sustain is still an issue. In scrapper line the pay off’s are still too slight. Min max the benefits of perfectly weighted etc and adaptive armour so scrapper can spec into heavy defense, or offense but not a even mixture of both.

Every profession has been at the rock bottom at least once since the game was released, aside from revenant (because it’s so new) and maybe engineer (which has always seemed to just float in the middle area except that time when turret engi was op). Nobody wants to be on the balance roller coaster, and so I think you’re right about more frequent, lighter balance patches being more effective than heavy all-out quarterly patches.

These patches might not seem to change things quickly or very much, but in time things will start to even out more I think. This was a pleasant surprise in my opinion.

Like i said 100 times,

The Imbalance is directly tied to power. The more power that is in something, the more its broken. All they did was reduce the power to a few things, this does not make the patch good at balancing; It made the patch good at killing what was previously “meta”.

This is an utterly fail development process. Why? Because 90% of the stuff out there is still broken, the only difference is your not complaining about it because its not being noticed by you.

If the Class Balance team knew what they were doing that patch would of been a lot larger then it was.

Point in case is the fact that i posted 2 weeks ago a bug that allows anyone to invalidate range attacks (making them never hit).

It is a utterly game breaking mechanic, that if any pvpers caught on to it the entire pvp aspect of this game would be utterly destroyed. Beyond that, Even PvE would be effected, but still no change.

As someone who is aware of the internal workings of studio’s, I suspect that something up on the top of the latter hit that forced Arenanet into a position of what i like to call “development death cycle” Which basically equates to “content spam”.

If you look at any of the other successful studio’s (ones that have been successful for decade(s) You will see there all have a common theme, That is the number on priority is Bugs, Instabilities, and the like.

Blizzard would never allow for such a game breaking bug to exist so long. Nor has any point in time a healing spec been fully useless in wow.

So when it comes to Balance in this game, It has Light years (not miles) to go; though i suspect it wont change due to the spam cycle, and large catering to pve

Mes is sitting high on that god tier throne at the moment. It’s incredibly easy to play and gross to play against; its not good for the game.

IMO the pvp scene is continuing to dwindle (then again this is an mmo, so not a real surprise I suppose) as its not about landing skillshots or having good reads (even at ESL level play), its become finding that class+build combo that can’t be outplayed. It makes pvp not as interesting as it could be to play, and incredibly dull to watch. ESL is skewed a bit in just how bad of an issue a couple of classes are as they don’t allow class stacking any more, otherwise it’d likely be 3 prof teams again.

Mes, Rev for sure and likely ele need a few more rubs down the cheese grader to shave them back closer to the rest of the field.

I think the team has an idea of what their doing, but their pushing pvp in a certain direction and on top of that theirs the pvp/wvw/pve link to content with.

Rev is fairly ridiculous in both pvp and wvw, but if the dev’s so much as shave a point off of precision strikes dmg you’ve got pve mouth breathers lined up and going ape that the class is now trash can tier for raiding. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not happy with the direction the pvp balance has gone, especially since HoT dropped, but the dev’s are pretty much in an impossible situation.

I’m concerned about what the next expansion will bring. It’s very likely, almost a given, that the next specializations are going to be even more powerful than what we got with HoT. Just like HoT >> core stuff, Expac2.0 >> HoT to make sure players spend those bucks to keep up. It’s disappointing but then again that business and marketing for ya I suppose.

I’m amazed at how people keep calling this a precision nerf when it is a 40% reduction to a skill’s effectiveness with no buff to compensate. I personally feel the devs miss their mark.

The problem isn’t the Signet of Humility. It’s how Continuum Shift can be used in conjunction with the Signet of Humility. But because this was not addressed, it’s going to cause a problem that won’t be fixed for months and possibly years.

To show you how bad this skill is, here’s some perspective. When’s the last time you heard anyone take this signet for its passive?

remember celestial rifle engi pre specialisation patch, back when gw2 was still balanced? yeah that was also a bruiser with its only condi removal on healing turret. just because you can’t play that way doesn’t mean they’re not allowed to change it.

rev has the highest mobility out of those and the best chase potential.

oh no! imagine if you could actually pick between 3 different bruisers depending on the situation! i think that would be the end of pvp

Imo lets not even talk about bruiser role when we take a look what rev is supposed to do.

“Revenant manipulate energy from the Mists to invoke the power of the legends from the past, unleashing immense attacks that dominate foes and unleash chaos on the battlefield”

I fail to see “bruiser” between lines. Causing chaos is far from bruiser with no damage. Working as intended, its tradeoff for lack of condi removal. Take survival from rev vs power specs and damage and rev will become a running joke. The only thing that keeps rev in meta is damage, without it you might as well play something else.

go and read all the other class descriptions, you will find out that about none of them are accurate….

talk as much as you want, fact is that rev has a) too much damage for its survivability, or b) too much survivability for its damage, and one of those has to change. and this is coming from a player who played rev competitively.

Fail. Mesmer is still in a tier all by itself (replacing moa with gravity well will not be much of a change for the whole class) and guards have been destroyed.

Now I am not the dramatic type so I won’t call this catastrophic like some like to do. But it sure doesn’t earn a ‘good job’ anet. With the way moa has been handled i’d actually call them lazy and uninspired.

Even the warrior got ‘passively’ buffed – while at the same time forced forever into the same defense trait line. What exactly is so positive about the balacing lately?

I don’t agree with you.

CORE classes to HoT Specializations are not balanced.

All classes and specialization should have a viable power, condi and bunker build that have counter class/build and are counter class/build to another.

This would been balanced.

From my perspective of the 10 hours I did put since last patch (i played way more before), the condi builds are better now than ever. And we had a condi meta in season 2.

So, actually, we don’t have enough options to counter a condition meta, it’s why the condition meta will dominate again.
