Although some of us dont particularly like some aspects of PvP right now (namely grindboard) I [we?] still want to thank you for being perhaps the MOST active Red on the entire forum (so far that I know of).

I [we?] know that you are working hard and dont mind taking the heat and have tanked the forums through all of this. Thanks for not giving us the silence and thanks for being comprehensive with how "warm* things can get.

I really hope your initiative to be this active among the community spreads around and we see more Red posts.

Now, enough pleasantries and back to trying to lynch your head off for the new leaderboard.

I totally agree, everytime I see a Red Post about PvP it brings me some joy, I’d say.

While i also appreciate the fact he does respond to posts, i feel half the time its just to shut people up/ promote false hope that the devs do care/actually doing things to sort out the mess that is pvp.

However i cant help but not take anything he says seriously because it will take another 6 months, IF AT ALL for any of our feedback to taken seriously.
It’s constant “will look into it, we are aware of it, this has potential what are other peoples views” blah blah blah.

Like, ive seen this for 2 years and pvp is still in a state of 1 mode/failed ladder, season,mmr.

It gets to a point where no one really cares if he responds or not because kitten all will be done to improve this game in pvp for another year. Just my opinion.

Look don’t get me wrong. A dev’s interaction on the forums is appreciated, and most of the time it is to respond to specific issues individuals have. But after nearly 3 years of the SAME old in pvp, and yet NO progression towards fixing the bore fest of 1 mode, same maps, 6 month balance patches, broken ladder, no carrot on a stick for r80’s……
I , and many others simply dont give kitten or take any dev seriously.

It’s not like the issues that get brought up are NEW?!! It’s the same things over and over, month after month, and we are no nearer to any getting proper attention.

Some of the time it is to shut people up. How would you like it if you worked your kitten off on a new matchmaking system only to have people crying they aren’t winning any games on the forums. He does what I think anyone would do, he goes and checks to see if the matchmaking is actually that bad, it usually isn’t so he comes on here and calls the people out on their bullkitten. It’s like one of my favorite thing about the forums lately.

Yeh 100% agree. The fact he takes time to address individual issues, and often calls out bullkitten is great, i’m a huge admirer of that.

My issue is with the continual posts about very blatant, big issues need addressing, and have needed addressing for 1-2 years now, and all i ever see is a dev response of ‘we are aware/looking into’ yet we have had NO progression in terms of more modes/maps, rewards for r80’s/ people on the ladder boards.
It’s a joke. I love the pvp in this game. It’s unique and by far the best class mechanics of any MMO pvp right now.

But that doesnt change the fact MANY people are only still playing this game because we are simply waiting for a better one to be released. Everything from down state, the graphics(stunning), mechanics, and yes, balance is in my opinion awesome. But that’s what makes me sad to see such an awesome pvp game being ruined by complete lack of understanding of what people want and expect when it comes to progression in this game.

The time it takes for anything to advance in this game is so demoralising, i feel this game has gone backwards (let alone forwards) in terms of pvp.

I can see from Justin’s comments that he values honesty and examining the facts objectively, based on evidence.

I suspect this attitude has earned him the respect of the team during internal discussions about what actions to take.

I have seen him admit he is wrong when he makes a mistake. That always earns my respect.

I like that he uses evidence-based thinking, rather than falling into emotional arguments…unlike so many posters on this forum.

Josh, Justin, and Evan should get some awesome bonuses from ArenaNet for taking the initiative to engage their community at such a level. I’ve been one of the loudest complainers about how little discussion happens between players and devs, and these three are always the silent exception to my complaints.

Can you imagine how much less disconnected the playerbase would be if more devs were this active? We might even feel like this game has a future.
