Keeping players around

The problem/ main culprit about all those problems is either the dev team is super incompetent OR maybe it’s an upper management decision that resulted in all those problems and the dev team not being able to do anything

I made a comment about this is a thread that got deleted. It’s definitely upper management, there is an agenda and the balance team cannot get in the way of it.

Yea, I think it’s best to give the dev team the benefit of the doubt, UNLESS they are really incompetent.
If not, It’s always an upper management dilemma.

It’s pretty much unquestionable that the 4 balance patches a year was an upper management decision.
It keeps server up time higher, and allows them to have more meetings!
And dear god, the amount of meetings that management has in the private sector blows my mind.
Half of the kitten that management (in a general sense across multiple companies) meets over, could’ve been handled in a single email.
Meetings are, after all, the practical alternative to work.
I highly doubt the dev team is actually incompetent. They’re working in a field that a majority of gamers only dream of, while working a 9-5 doing data entry.

We all know that meetings are 50% work 30% lunch and 20% Talking/ Gossiping.
But yeah this could really be an upper management thing because most devs that i knew/heard of/watched on interviews are really passionate about their stuff.
Anet was the first company I’d ever worked for, so it was also the first company in which I’d ever attended a meeting. When I left for another company I quickly came to realize that a “meeting” was not a “meating”.
My co-workers looked at me strangely when I showed up to the event carrying a meat platter
~Confessions of an Ex-Anet employee
I feel bad for some of the devs, others can suck it. The reign of the celeDDele was far too long, and then to immediately replace that with the insane power creep of HoT without any real balance change planned for months, just pure incompetence.
Lesh and Gee are the only ones I currently have any respect for, and I appreciate both their efforts.

Hah!
If you brought that to one of our meetings, I’d clap my hands and ask a peasant to grab some beer for the other peasants.
And a bottle of eagle rare for me.
And a bottle of Southern Comfort (or vodka) for my boss, because he doesn’t like beer either.
