I am looking for high level pvp Rangers to talk to. Are there currently any top 100 people that are Rangers that have Twitch or vids?

It doesn’t matter if they are Teamq or soloq.

I would actually recommend ROM, I’ve seen him stream some power and condi ranger for the lulz recently. Even though he has mained warrior for ages, he actually used to play ranger for Chieftain Ninjas back when the game was still in diapers.

Go look for battosai, best ranger time ago and probably still the best….he was really good when rangers weren’t carried by ai…or just spamming entangle around

Set Up: Power Ranger LB/SB with Travelers

My synergy in soloq ( i only soloq) with teammates on Forest, Temple or, god forbid Khylo is lacking. I cannot find a good strategy/positions for my power ranger that I feel is going to dramatically help the team.

In Legacy, I know my strategy and I go in feeling like our team can win and I am going to be a big help to that.

In Temple, I’m ok…I bring timer alerts and good map awareness, but where are the best positions for soloq? Right now, I float in the space between mid and home to stop people pushing far and so I can quickly +1 mid. But I feel like there’s better.

In Forest, Ranger is tough to position in mid. If I stay on ledge/ pet is useless (unless I get lucky and someone is on other ledge). I can’t drop down or I get a beat down.
Question: Would switching to Ground Targeting Traps for Forest be a better Strategy?

In Khylo – I start on Treb, shoot first, then move the treb to mansion proper and attack mid for the first 20 seconds of the match, then go back home and float home/mid.
But the home/ mid strategy is really lacking. After I jump up building on either side, my pet can’t join the fight without running all the way around….again, losing all the benefits of pets. What is the best Strategy/Position/ Set UP here. Again, I’m thinking of Ground Targeting Traps.

No i’m saying that this top 100 is full of ppl who wouldn’t have been even in first 1000 on old one…so it’s totally pointless…while most of top players like zapdos are in %

Queing up all day and losing half matches is totally different from being good…ppl up there with less than 60% win/loss ratio rofl, i really would like to ask the #1 guy to set up his team for a friendly best of 3 with us on stream

Gonna be fun…you know if it was old one then it would have been CM meaning a pretty sure loss…but now…i don’t even know dat guy

thanks for your input. I like the new system. I"m not sure it is fair to say that baddies can just show up and win 50% of their games. Or even average people. I see that you are EU, but in NA – I’ve played against/with some of the top 10 and they are legit. They are typing out orders telling people what to do and playing to win.

I am still new to taking this pvp seriously in GW2, mostly due to the reset. Before the reset I was trying to dig out of the losses from when I was learning…it was daunting and I was inching my way out of the “Percent” bracket.

I really like the restart and it is making a person like me – a mid-skilled player – really get into this and try to be better….because I have a shot at top 250 now.

Again, thanks for helping me understand this better and any advise you can give to newer players who are trying to break-in to the group would always be welcomed.

The only advice for new players is to watch esl weekly and try to learn roles and rotations..but for god’s sake dont’ look at leaderboards…

I’m not here to derail the topic but this can in fact happen due to the point based system. People with lower MMR that are averagely skilled will gain points for winning and go up the leader board but they often dodge premade groups and when they do fight them they’ll often still gain a point if they lose. It’s a complicated mess and I wouldn’t know how to fix it but anyone could show up and win 50%.

She is basically a insta-kill because she literally doesn’t move. Her playstyle instantly the first time i seen her months and months ago indicated that she was a bot being babysat by a person. Babysitting meaning the player is watching the screen now and then, taking control here and there to bypass bot detection but generally just keeping an eye to respond to chat, most likely sitting there watching tv or playing another game.

Not all classes carry and not all people play premades.

There were people that had better than 75% with alot of games. That being said I’m not sure onereply understands how mmr and ranking works.

Please tell me the difference between our old ranked teamq and our new ranked q. You can soloq for both, you can have a party for both. Pretty sure the old system used glicko 2 for our mmr as well right….

So you said no one could get close to 75% winrate on the old system (sorry you didn’t specify soloq but that’s your bad) and that really wasn’t true….. hell even some soloqers had low 70% winrates with a decent amount of games played.

Eura hardly plays anymore. Any other ranger doesn’t compare. Kizos is probably your best bet.

Nexed old leaderboard would put poeple with highest MMR on top.

New leaderboard uses still same MMR to find you poeple to play with. But it puts poeple with most points aka “most games played while wining a bit more than half of them” on top.

What is more?
Winrate 75% of 100 games = about 50 pts
Winrate 55% of 1000 games = about 550 – 450 = 100 pts

Its basically a mid tier team will stay mid tier, but they will gain a lot of points if they have time to play as they win against low and other mid teams, while they dont lose much or even lose 0pts when they get matched against good teams.
It is even theoreticaly possible to lose all games 0% winrate and still gather points to become top on leaderboard.

Sry for not on topic, i think rom is currently most succesfull ranger

I would agree with rom, I really just meant then gameplay level would have similar mmrs so even if you run into premades they will have similar mmrs. Yes you will get some inexperienced players on your team deal with it help them don’t rage at them

i do realize, and i think its a stupid system. tho it is slightly better than the even dumber ELO. neither one actually does a good job of measuring ones skill compared to their peers. they skew a concrete form of skill measurement, W/L, to make bad/selfish players feel better about themselves. bad/selfish teammates are not going to maintain a high winrate in solo or team queue. but in both MMR and ELO style ratings, and especially the new system here, bad players are promoted.
but im a simple sports guy, who has the better record…end of story.

Even if you are solo and 70% of the time the matcher gives you matchups it expects you to lose ?

Please explain your logic on this, given how the matching works, especially in off hours.

For good rangers, check out my boyz eurantien or Kizos Awan. Both play ranger competitively in the NA scene.

Eura and Kizos in NA are who you’d want to talk to.

Tany was probably the best Ranger the game has seen though now retired, not sure if there are any VoDs of Tany’s play around anymore though.

In EU, the only ranger that comes to mind is Niah, but I’m not sure he plays anymore.

Winter it just goes to show that you are apart of the noobs everyone is talking about. The fact that u think those players are “legit” proves that you are not very skilled yourself. They may be “legit” to you, but to most players they are complete trash. I’ve faced many of them and they are nothing compared to the players who should be on top of the leaderboards. Those players that you think are “legit” are the players that myself and many others make montages of on youtube.

secondly, the contempt toward good rangers is pathetic and sad. there is tons you can learn about timing and positioning from playing a power ranger, or condi/bleed bunker. both general builds require an extremely high skill cap in the higher brackets considering how easy they are to shut down. also, s/d thieves evade spam much more than any ranger spec, so im not sure where that’s coming from. spirit rangers aren’t really viable any more, so we cant blame AI any more.

The first X hours of the game are you learning the game mechanics, conquest, your profession, other players professions, the meta, etc.

When you start picking up another profession to learn you still know what other builds are capable of, you still know the meta, you still know everything you knew.

any further argumentation over this is completely off topic. my opinion stands. but my original point was that the OP doesn’t have 1-2k hours under his belt, and getting that experience is infinitely more valuable than talking 1 on 1 to a “high level pvp ranger.”

I said they were legit players, I did not say they were elite. the quoted post was saying that baddies were up there. I haven’t found that to be the case with “some” of the people that I played.

I have played with some of them and found them to be quite skilled at soloq, which is completely different then playing teamq. I would play with someone like Relic anytime. He was focused on winning and communicating and I never felt like I was herding cats with him. You may have had a different experience with him at a different time, but that was my experience.

I don’t know how good those Elite people are…they always teamq / I am always soloq so anytime I’m fighting them, our team gets stomped – which is expected.

For me, seeing if they can herd cats in soloq would be interesting – that’s something I would watch – positioning, communication strategy has a completely different dynamic in soloq vs teamq

I am still new-er to this game, and now that the reset happened, I am getting into Ranked much more. I’m not going to personally attack you on the forums. Remember, I came here asking for help – was your intent to provide help?
