Lack of streamer/outside game community?

There are plenty of streamers and Guild Warts 2 viewership has slowly and slightly increased! Phantaram’s channel once hit the 300 mark I saw! It was wild!
For PvP streamers, check out this thread!

Wahoo! Bye frands!
~5 hours of “past broadcasts” footage between all the thief streams listed on that.
This game has no streamer community. What about outside game community or inside community?
I was a player from the very beginning and can tell you that about a year ago, this game’s sPvP scene was on the tipping point. We had quite a few fairly popular streamers, a dedicated twitch stream that rotated people, and a community following that was growing (and eventually stagnating). Lack of many things including balance, different gamemodes, introduction of maps like Skyhammer, and terrible leaderboards (notice how many of these still plague the scene) lead to the players ultimately quitting and sPvP falling into a near dead state (at least at the higher levels).
I have since recently returned and am glad to see many more people in sPvP, but I don’t think the higher level play has quite returned the strength it was and doubt it ever will considering how much time has passed. While I always enjoyed playing this game, watching it is an entirely different story and was downright dreadful in it’s implementation a year ago.
I’m sure you can find a niche community somewhere, but for the most part players aren’t interested in a competitive scene in this game after a couple years of disappointment.
Seems to be dead.
I take it you are not aware that broadcasts get deleted off twitch rather soon after they are aired. There does seem to be less streamers for thief than other profession, but they are out there.
The best Thief streamers imo are:

http://www.twitch.tv/magictoker
http://www.twitch.tv/sizer2654
and they all stream pretty frequently!

Caed quit streaming, he posted it in my thief thread.
The other two have less than 5 hours of total past broadcasts.
Also it takes over a month for the past broadcasts to be deleted, so if they aren’t there from inactivity it’s because the streamers aren’t active. which is exactly my entire point.
Here’s what an active streamer’s past broadcasts looks like:

That’s only my first concern, my second is an outside or even INSIDE community for SPVP. Does it exist? Does everyone just use map chat and the 10 top players who happen to know each other occasionally talk?
This is a MMO, it’s supposed to be social, but this game seems extremely anti-social.

That’s what an active streamer’s past broadcasts look like for someone who can afford to live off of streaming. The problem is that most people have jobs and because the GW2 community is so small, not a lot of players/streamers can afford to stream as often as it isn’t sustainable. I have the luxury of being in a position where I can afford to stream more often, but even with me streaming about every other day I only manage to make about 60-80$ a month from streaming this game. I imagine the streamer you linked makes a lot more. When/if the game’s viewership on twitch grows, then it will be more sustainable for streamers to just stream this game, and you will see a lot more activity. It’s a bit of a catch 22, as both are required for each other to happen, but its the inconvenient truth about how a game’s twitch sustainability works. :P

GW2 is typically not very entertaining to watch imo.
I mean I suck at pvp and all, but I play the game and would still never watch it.
The main reason for that is that GW2 is incredibly intransparent.
For example: in a moba you see the items and spells everybody uses, you see their gold, buffs, etc.
Meanwhile in GW2 you dont see any of these things, and then you get things like different utility skills and traits. It ends up feeling very random on screen unless you are super involved in the current pvp meta.
GW2 needs much more details and knowledge to enjoy streams.
Thats not very inviting tbh.

Well without streamers a PVP game doesn’t have a community anymore. So that means this game has absolutely on PVP community…
Its not that there aren’t any streamers, but compared to other AAA titles GW2 has abysmal streaming. Mainly I just don’t feel compelled to watch them, there isn’t a ton I feel they can provide I can’t get myself in game.
Blu is pretty much the only person I watch, and it is either for comedy or the organized higher tier PvP. But mostly for the few times that I find him with like 18 different people casting 2v2 with 4 necros all popping Lich at 2k HP.
They killed streaming when they removed solo queue – it was about the only content that people could stream consistently for PvP. Now matches are tedious and 80% of the time (if not more) they are blowouts for one side or the other. It’s not fun to play nor is it fun to stream/watch. Hard to be enthusiastic about something when it’s a chore to do.

That sounds extremely boring, I quit for like 1 year because necros/engineers ruined the game for me during that time and the current “meta” seems more interesting. Why did they remove solo queueing?
I only enjoy watching someone do pug vs pug games, team vs team is extremely boring to watch even from a single persons POV.
