Lag is getting worse
confirmed it happens in PvP only. i had to go to Lion’s arch to test it and aside the common FPS drop, latency is just fine.
Can we do something about it ?
If I were you I probably will post a support ticket to Anet.
Give your specs and etc and write a much better detail description of your lag problems.
Its one thing to say you have lag, its another thing to give ANet the proper data to diagnose either yours or their server problem

tech support is already full of people crying for the lag.
This is happening only in PvP for me, and it’s happening at prime time and has been like this from last update ( in my server, seafarer’s rest, people is complianing about lag issues too).
It’s been happening to me since the 10/15 patch. Today I can’t stay online for more than 2 minutes without being disconnected. The entire time I’m in Heart of the Mists and it’s not even super populated. I wasn’t even getting error messages anymore. I would just log on, tell someone I just dc’d, and then dc again.
soloQing my way through leagues…
I’m having the same problems. I feel the communal pain.
I can confirm it too, sometimes its good sometimes its bad.. i’m from Brasil so i know i’d have an usual delay. I’d suggest to:
open prompt cmd and type:
tracert account.guildwars2.com
This should show the travel times from your connection to Anet, recently i’ve had alot of package loss around Dallas, but i’m unsure whether this is Anet problem or ISP or whatever
Same for me , been lagging all the summer, then it seemed fixed but started again after 15/10 patch. I pvp only.
We can’t make any headway on this unless you get a chance to post more information. If you are actively lagging, type ‘/ip’ into chat to get your current server’s IP address, and use the tracert command to gather more information. If you do post again, please include the server IP, the time of day you’re lagging, and the map that you’re on.

Here is a program that will actively do a trace route for you, graph it, and show packet loss:

I can’t stress enough that just saying “I’m lagging” will not get us any closer to finding a solution. I wish there was more we could do, but we need more data.

Ok lagging here also…

Installed the program you specified. I live in the UK. I’m apparently experiencing a consistent 10-20% Packet loss between London and Frankfurt. I occasionally lose an additional 10-20% just before the PlayNC server hop.
Not sure what else I can provide info-wise that you’d be interested in.

This kind of stuff is great! How does your ping relate to lag and packet loss? The info I’ve seen shows ping being relatively fine, but packet loss corresponds to in-game lag.
Telling us which map you’re in helps too, and whats happening in the map. For instance, are you in the middle of a scarlet invasion? Or are you in a fractal?

You’re describing graphical lag likely from the overdraw caused by the grenade particle system. You could try turning on effect LOD. Poorly created particle systems always have the potential to bring down even the best of systems. Just go stand in some smoke to confirm This thread is specifically about network lag causing skill delay, rubber-banding, and disconnects.

I was in a match on Foefire, then Kyhlo SPvP. testing to see if I could play. It was periodically fine, but had intermittent spikes throughout. Couldn’t tell you about ping during those moments since I was in PvP.
There doesn’t seem to be a Scarlet Invasion going on at the moment. I just did a ping while writing this and I’m experiencing seemingly consistent packet loss on the 12th hop at Frankfurt. Between 14-25% (this little app is great!).
Not sure what I’m allowed to post here but the IP of the hop is: 4.69.148.186
DNS name is ae-21-21.ebr2.Frankfurt1.level3.net
Average Response Time 67
Cur (or most recent response time) 71
Hope that helps
