I’ll start by saying that overall I’ve had a very positive experience with the matchmaking in Ranked. I’m generally paired with people around my skill level who have an interest in playing their best to win the game. I’ve noticed, however, an unacceptable number of players way below my skill level both on my team and on my opponents’ team. Upon PMing a few of the newbies, I found out that many were bronze and silver (they did not fare well in a game full of platinum players). This creates a negative experience both for the new player and for the experienced one; the new players are relentlessly annihilated unaware they are playing in a skill bracket way above their own while the experienced players can’t fully experience the fair and competitive game they queued for. I’ve been told I’m not the only player to experience this but I’m unsure why players with such varied skill levels are being placed in the same game. Has anyone else experienced this? Has ANET said anything on the matter? Thanks.

I can only imagine that bronze/silver players getting matched with say plat is because they are duo’d with someone in plat. The only other thing I can think of is players with artificially high mmr from last pvp season are still in the process of falling into the bracket where they belong.
I started running ele support and carry most of my teams with sustain. You should too. It’s the only way.
Or just get lucky.
Edit: I mean, you should find a build that carries in order to win. Like my D/W Auramancer provides a stream of hp to my allies, greatly reducing their odds of wipe (plus there’s some DPS too)

All the things you listed happen to everyone not just you. I just proved it that duo Qing is not necessary to be top 250 or even top 100. Stop finding excuses for your own failure. How do you explain that there are no top players stuck in low divisions?
Why is Helseth not stuck in bronze? Why is Toker not stuck in silver? You are not as good as you think, its not the matchmaking fault

U said in some thread u were stuck in silver thats probably where u belong idk why the QQ. If course I am triggered by people who blame matchmaking. I started in silver too and had to problem to climb pure solo Q to top 100.
In silver my teammates were terrible but so was the enemy team. Silver division was just a gold farm , easy wins.

That was days ago. But my main point was the placement matches. They were terrible. Terrible matches. That alone was a big jump for people who did great.
Let’s admit it, we have to see the Individual MMR + Team MMR. Just to prove if matchmaking is working..
You do experience getting teammates who are terrible but belong to a high rank.
I have yet to see any really significant differences in skill this season. Matchmaking is fantastic. Yes, I have an extremely good win rate so that does make me happy, but almost all of the games were very close.
Yesterday I won 12 in a row, which would normally suggest bad matchmaking , but over half of those I could have lost if I made 1 bad decision. It was so much fun and winning all of those out in the end made me feel great.
I can’t speak from the perspective of divisions other than legendary, but from what I have seen, matchmaking is the best it has ever been. The amount of bad players is very low which also tells me the skill rating system is working well.
Maybe it is a lot worse in lower divisions, but I do not believe that there would be any significant amount of games that would be uncarryable if you truly belong in a higher division based on what I have seen so far.
