Played a few games recently and thought about playing to get my name on the leaderboards. The problem I’m running into is that it greatly seems like the leaderboards are just based upon grinding a ton of games. Am I wrong in seeing it like this?

I would probably be playing 5-10 games a week. From how I understand the points work, it would be pointless for me to focus on leaderboards.

This is extremely discouraging and will only lead to me not having anything to do with PvP at all.

Which is why I think they should have an MMR list where you can only see yourself in relation to everyone else but everyone else’s names are blacked out or something.

Being able to get better and move myself up some kind of list is very important to me. I don’t play it, but something like in LoL with their bronze/silver rating system would work out nicely for me. I really enjoy how rating/mmr works in WoW too.

hey if you grind and win the same amount of games you can be up there too.

we all know your team will win 100% of your games.

it is important for a large portion of the player base to have a sense of constant progression. wvw’s ranking system is limitless for most players. pvp used to feel a lot like that, but now R80 is much easier than it used to be. reward tracks aren’t the answer. meaningful leaderboard would add a nearly limitless aspect of possible progression for many players.

If u have a premade team, yes…it is so much fun to farm solos…if you are solo, it is also very fun to be farmed by premade with 500-25

Look at the first page of leaderboard.. Ever heard of any of those guys?
I’ve played against a couple in random ranked and I can honestly say they shouldn’t be top 1000.
Unfortunately as someone with a job (nerf work) I’ll constantly be around the edges of leaderboard.

You should understand that the leaderboard is based on the long run, you can’t evaluate it after 1 or 2 weeks only. At some point ( in theory), top players should start getting -3 for losing and +1 for winning, while premades will get back to them because they keep winning..

People complained because the old leaderboard did put top 25 beginners with 10 games played. Now it’s all the opposite, but you have to wait a few weeks to be able to evaluate it..

It’s a test-season. Justin has responded many times they’re looking into it.
Expect changes around 13 january. Until then, provide constructive feedback or just don’t play, I guess.

Not true at all. The leaderboard should reward volume because otherwise it promotes people waiting for their lame comp “team” to come online and then they farm pugs all day. Does that prove individual skill? Nope.

Lol the ones up there are team queuing and stomping pugs all day. Only the ones with the close win/lose rate are solo queuing. We faced the farmer team as a pug on our alt classes and beat them every time with no effort. Can post screenies if you would like. I am also concerned for their health to be playing that much.(wow)
