A lot of PvP features have been implemented and, to be honest, most of them don’t work well enough.

Let’s look at each of them in turn (and in a constructive way) -

1, Leaderboards

There is a serious issue here. There is a creep towards lower and lower ratings such that a person who doesn’t play for ages can then rid themselves of their decay and get back to rank 1. Basically what this means is that going back in time the ratings of the top players would of been higher a longer time ago.

As such, the system does not reward playing the game. Which is counter productive from a business point of view when people playing the game = money via the cash shop.

If you go 1-1, and all other things are equal, then it seems like you actually lose rating. This is flawed. They need to change the system so that you gain 10% more rating for beating a team of a certain rank than you do if you lose and the roles are reversed.

2, Matchmaking – It seems like the solo Q system is just a short cut adaptation of the team Q system. So this is the process:

- You queue and it matches you in a team of 5 with similar ranked people.
- Your roster then enters a team queue matchmaking system with the usual expanding criteria of who you be matched with
- The result is that unbalanced match-ups are frequent. What the system should be designed to do is generate pools of 10 players which are ranked around the same rating and then randomize the teams between these 10 players.

Character: Henry rank million/Duke Henry
Necromancer/Casual Warrior
[Team] Best WvW guild of all time. EASILY.

Regarding #1, I still think SC2 has the best ladder system (with leagues and bonus pool). The bonus pool promotes playing the game, and the league system gives lower-ranked players something to achieve (e.g., from bronze to silver).

It’s a good idea but A-net has not said one thing about what they plan to do, if anything about all the people that don’t or barely play there game that clutter up the leaderboards, and thats sad. Leaderboards have been around for months. If they don’t tighten up the leaderboards and match making in the next month or two Im probably done witht his game.
