Leaderboards-the more i play the lower i fall
Just don’t worry about them. Solo Q leaderboards are extremely flawed atm, and most people understand this. I suggest either getting a group of people for team que or just 5v5 hotjoins for fun.
Also it’s not like you get anything for being on the LB, so who really cares.

Oh… I have the same problem. I managed to get pretty high with a lots of wins last month. Usually played dailies only. 3 matches. 2 were wins. Atm losing 2 or 3 of 3. But I have to say game also is trolling me a bit atm. Often maps I don’t like. Almost never my favourite map. Leavers. Team composition bad(lot of useless classes in one team, lot of OP classes in other team).
It just happens… and after some time it probably will totally change again and I’ll get a lot of wins in a row instead.
I queued extremely carefully for a while and got pretty high on the leaderboards, but it was too much work. I had to not play when top teams were syncing; I had to not play in off-hours; I had to not play on Friday nights (WvW resets); I had to not play during outside events (like the 2v2 tournament). I had to play cheap on skyhammer, and I had to run whatever would counter warriors (or necros, a couple months ago).
After a while, I just figured I had achieved the highest rank I should expect out of the current system, so I stopped caring. I did drop quite a bit, but that’s all right. With the new matchmaking coming, solo queue should be way better. I’ll probably try to get my rank up again after the new system comes in, especially if ranks are reset. That would be pretty cool.

That seems to require quite a lot of dedication and planning.
I notice in some games leaderboards get reset, or are rolling from week to week or month to month- I mean they get reset every week or month (I think that’s how Tera works, I forget the details now though)- in WoW is it every season for arena?
How about games like Lol and Smite? I have only played those games casually, but do they reset the competitive leaderboards at regular intervals?
players are given the option to reset their rank, as some players dont want to reset their proof of 500+ games or high win to loss ratios
Soloq atm stacks teams so matches are usually lopsided. The more you win, the ezier it is to keep winning since you get the better players. The more you lose, the harder it is to stop losing.
I was stuck in the 70-90% range for a while. You can only carry so much. The odds are against you. Many more 4v5, afk/leaver, and clueless R1-10 on your team in that range.
Eventually I clawed my way up to top50-100. I played no better now than when I was in the 70-90% range. Just the flawed system giving me better teams.
Tips to escape the pitfall of endless losses.
- Play during peak prime time hours. You are less likely to get a heavily lopsided matchup. More likely to get closer matched teams. If you are able to carry the team then you have the advantage. Once you make it to the top500 its better to queue during off peak hour since you are likely able to get the higher end of the stacked teams and will fight lower ranker players.
- If you lose or get horrible team-mates, take a break. Don’t queue up again immediately after the match. You will likely get them again on the same team or face the same opposing team. Likewise, if you get a good team and win, queue up again fast.
- Play multiple profession to counter the enemy and/or balance your team
- Try to find someone with similar rating and sync queue.

Same here..
You cant carry your team so getting up in leaderboards is a 90% luck and 10% skill depended..
No matter how good you play there are times when you have mid and homepoint and for some reason 2-3 of your team decides to push far..leaving mid and home undefended at all…
I can understand that some ppl dont have the experience and this isnt happening all the time..But when for every lose you drop like 10% and for every win you raise for 1% its pretty easy to reach in a point that you are litteraly playing alone..
I was at 600 and since then i keep dropping even tho my skill is better now, i feel that what i do doesnt affects the match flow at all, its a completly team game and leaves no room for personal effort..
The secret to stay at 600 is to play one match every day..
They actually manage to make spvp the less you play the more you get reward it
That seems to require quite a lot of dedication and planning.
Exactly. I enjoyed moving up the leaderboard, but I had to restrict myself incredibly harshly. I could usually only play 1-3 matches per day, because I had to avoid all the situations I mentioned (sync queuers, low population, etc) if I wanted to keep moving up. Now I’ve fallen quite a ways because I decided I’d play even at the “wrong” times.
I’m hoping that things will get a lot better after the 12th. A reset would be awesome, but we’ll see what happens.
i have literally made it to top 200 on 3 accounts every time with a starting win loss ratio of almost 100% wins
do i get a cookie now?

I just want to emphasize this quote that the current ladder mechanics encourage NOT PLAYING in many scenarios over playing, which is pretty stupid.

Right. I’m expecting things to be 10x better after the next patch, but I’m basically putting that information out as a way of saying a reset would be nice, and giving rewards for the top X solo queue places at this point would not be wise.

Looking good so far right?!

Yup, I posted that before the reset was planned. If everything goes well with the new matchmaker, the reset will go through unhindered and there will be much rejoicing. Then, if the balance patch on Dec. 10th is also good, things will be looking great.
