Q:
League of its own
Is ele disabled for your account?
If they launch league system when expansion hits, it will be the biggest fail anyway. Druid and scrapper will have only 1 beta weekend to be tested and even the classes that were already in BWE2 will be probably tuned poorly. Now take into account usual problems we have even with smallest patches plus expansion launch problems and we are looking on huge catastrophe.
So with all this, despite me disliking cele ele and other builds with same effort/reward ratio, situation you are describing is my last concern.
While cele ele is in a league of it’so own, a change like this would do more harm than good. While I hate to say it, if you really are concerned about your ladder position, your best option is simply roll cele ele. Since everyone has access to everything in hotm, there’s no reason not roll it.

Im not going to play a class i dont enjoy just cause its so much stronger then the others. Im not a professional gw2 player, i play the game for fun, ill play builds that are fun for me to play. ofc i try and want to win but in the end i dont really care about winning that much. And i am a pretty good player and always had lots of success in pvp (and i have like 6k+ matches experience ).
I dont care about my position in the leagues, ideally i want to be in a league with similarly skilled players for more exciting matches, regardless of how high it is. But ele numbers are a much bigger factor then skill right now. 2-3 ele team vs. 0 ele team match is pretty much decided right there unless there is a ridiculous difference in skill. Even 1 ele difference is already a huge advantage (see last WTS final ).
I join matches solo, the deciding factor in my league position will be how lucky i get with rolling eles on my team. Get a lucky streak, im in a league with players above my level, unlucky streak i drop down to a league where im not challenged.
And long term – if you divide players in the leagues based on how lucky they are with ele rolls, it ends up being a mess once they fix the ele. Much easier for eles to compete in their own league vs other eles and then rejoin everyone else when balanced (though i would oppose the merger even if they where balanced/underpowered, just out of principle ).
Having said that, this is ofc a terrible, nonsense idea. yeah the ele is crazy op but separate leagues would be stupid. It would take less dev time to fix the ele then to implement separate leagues. I just found it funny that they a made a new category on metabattle just for ele. But its tuesday and i haven’t made a fix-ele post in a while (despite vowing to do so every single day), this was the best i could come up with in 3 minutes.
I agree that the fact that the number of ele’s deciding the match is completely ridiculous. It’s killed my desire to PvP entirely until fixed. Even shoutbow warriors and mantra mesmer were more fun to fight.
