Dear Anet,

I want to dedicate this Topic to the newly introduced rewards in Spvp season 6. Seriously what is going on with the reduction in Ascended Shards of Glory. Previous season you were able to grind 900 of them in one season by doing all track, however this season you can only get 300 in total. Comparing the effort it takes to finish all 6 chests and the prices of the armors it is quite out of proportion. It takes 400 shards to buy and chest SKIN, not even talking about the ascended piece. This would mean you need to finish all chests and the last chest 3 times. Comparing time vs rewards the propertions are completely out of bounds. Please have a look into this as the rewards for Spvp are completely useless now.

I agree that nerfing the rewards in order to make the last chest repeatable was a mistake. I have a feeling that the population of players is going to drop significantly because of it and that the queue times are going to increase. As much as PvP players think they’re better than PvE players, PvP needs the inflated numbers in order to have a population and this season might prove that.

Play for the pvp part and not the rewards. After a while they will pile up without you realising.

I am tier 3 gold in season 5, I can safely say I will not be joining season 6 at all. Anet really doesn’t need to reduce the shards especially when it requires the crafting tokens. Now the grind is just too much.

Don’t get me wrong I enjoy the pvp games, but I’ll just join unranked game instead. At least its not always meta builds there.

Where did you get 300 from? It’s INFINITE this season. You get ascended shards now from the last reward track repeatedly unlike last season when you got them just once.

Secondly, wouldn’t that INCREASE population, not decrease? Because you can earn more the more you play, so I would expect more people to play longer during the season?

It decreases because in order to get the 1200 shards you got last seasons you have to repeat the final chest 18 times. That is way more games than any casual player will ever want to attempt. Even people who play 300 games in a season will get (assuming 50% win rate and always getting top score and close games) 2400 pips which is only 10 boxes I believe.

They don’t want to hand out rewards for free, like they did last season. I played abit over 100 games during whole season and I repeated the last track a few times. They want to reward players who are consistent. This way we get most of the ppl out of queue who are there only for the rewards and not for the spvp itself, since getting ascended gear through fractals is now way easier and I believe every pve-player will rather do those than pvp. I personally have very high expectations for season 6 being really good.

Dev noted that they may increase pip rewards for top stats, so it may be higher. But I see your logic. If this was the approach done last season, I don’t think we end up with crafting for PvP ascendeds, but there was 1200 practically free shards out in the economy and they overreacted to snap back the value.

I still believe the new approach is correct, may be modified easily through pip rewards and requires some input from player. Not a fan of the crafting though but what can you do.

As someone who does mostly PvP but had done alot of PvE and WvW.

I couldnt care less about the ascended grab given out in PvP.

How about simply giving out more gold for PvP. Most of the PvP players dont like opening up tons of crates which hands out multiple loads of garbage. Simply hand out out more gold per reward track.

@bigmonto.4215 im acutally taking a break from GW2 but alot of the PvP players ive talked too just seem done. Pro scene seems completely dead, leader board was a huge fail on the NA side and for me personally i hate. Absolutely what HOT has turned this game into from a build stand point.

Ive written a few threads/comments speaking about what this game was core GW2 vs HOT GW2.

Pre HOT people complained about burn damage and and nerfing d/d ele. NOT STAFF ELE, NOT FRESH AIR ELE, just d/d ele.

Now every thread is how OP every class is with every comment under it looking 1 agrees, 1 disagrees, then another 1 agrees and then another disagrees and we cant actually debate it since its all true.

Having seen Darek and the other top DH (whos name always shows up kitten) guess what in solo que DH can be freaking awesome. Having seen Edison in a few games, i know power thief on d/p can be awesome. Having seen maygi on d/d thief i know condi thief can be good.

Add a million other ESL players who played well and a few great players who use awkward builds and you can make the legit case the game is balanced.

But no one likes the spams in this game. The reduced CD of everything and the increased boon time and the increased damage with more blocks for everyone is straight garbage. Thats why your seeing less Pro players and thats why you will see PvE players leave as well.

This game is deceasing the fun from PvP and only frustrating the whole player base with the set up of everything.

Actually reducing all rewards and making the last chest infinite takes the effort for all casuals away. It needs to be repeated way to often, around 300 matches, and you need to craft. No one got time for that.

actualy without the crafting part the prices and the gain from it would be totaly fair, but now its “play a dawm lot of games and as a reward you will get” yeah the benefit of having to push up a crafter to 500 and invest almost as much to as much money as the usual crafting of the items would cost, on top of the pvp currency ofc
i mean i have no problem with it beeing slow, i think s5 was too fast with the rewards, but s6 doesnt even feel as if im rewarded with anything even when i play 300 games…

I came here to bring up this same thing(nerfed ascended shards) but it’s been posted. Why on Earth would anyone who is in charge think giving us something and then taking it away in the future is ever a good idea? I finally log in after a long hiatus only to feel angry and disappointed.

Like I said in another thread:

For Season 6:

  • Added achievements for all competitive maps (woo titles???)
  • Added PvE Crafting Requirement to Ascended Equipment PvP incentive
  • Reduced Ranked Reward track rewards but now allow you to get Ascended Shards when you repeat
  • Did not revise Year of the Ascension achievements to include an alternative option rather than forcing inexperienced multi-class play in Ranked. Honestly, could have also added an option to buy the parts to make the Gift of the Competitor using Ascended Shards + Shards + Tickets + Gold to resolve this.

Yeah…nothing really that motivates me to play PvP (if you consider all the other problems).

Rewards can be described as “no gains”. Try to get fun if you can because in the earning departments current PvP can only be described as “a waste of time”.

As lon gas yoyu remember -and the class you play can provide it- that ultimately you are playing PvP because you find it fun you’ll be fine. If you don’t find it fun you already knwon what to do.

Wow i love all aspects of gw2 and i want to get into ranked to see where i stand. But if i want ascended gear i will have to focus more on some other part of game 300+ games is alot if i want even 1 piece plus will have to craft other part. Ouch thats alot of time on a casual mmo haha.

All well, just want some ascended for wvw so i might as well just craft it grr.

There are casual players who don’t enjoy grinding PvP. With such puny rewards, they feel even less enthusiastic about jumping into a PvP match in the first place.

I was looking forward to the new season, but with the current system I don’t feel too motivated to even get started.

I have a lot of fun in all game modes in GW2 and reached platinum last season. What keeps me playing after 10000 hours, however, is progress towards some goal. With PvP’s rewards being gutted, the progress is stunted and I don’t find it worth my time. Thus, I’ll play something else in-game instead. It may be easy for some people to go “good riddance, pve scrub” in response to that, but if you want a well-populated game mode with a diverse population to play against you need to have good rewards. It’s as simple as that.

Also, on top of that, the fact that they previously gave us such great rewards only to then completely GUT them is really insulting to me as a pvper. Balance is also so bad currently that the rewards were the only thing that would have encouraged me to play. If anything, I may grab a title or two and then never spend time in pvp again.

So, as far as I see it has gotten more expensive and time consuming to get the ascended gear from pvp than to get them in pve?
