Leagues in guild wars feel simillar to a legend climb in a game like Hearthstone.
I suggest the leagues being – just like hearthstone, shorter (1 month), to make it a harder challange to climb (because at the moment, anyone can).
Also, and important to make the above work, there should be no break between seasons. 1 ends, 1 starts.
These two changes work together to both keep the players who constantly want to pvp with the fun of climbing that is really gone when you hit legend, and for the rest it will require to step up their game to hit legend in a reasonable amount of time.

P.S. Also instead of prestige levels that are not even displayed anywhere unless you are top 5, a legendary leaderboard like the old QP leaderboard would be much better to keep a reason to play after legend.

Agree with that, and I made a post on division drops. But too many casuals, that won’t happen. What I proposed here don’t hurt the casuals, only those who think they’re good bec they grinded the hell out of the season and still could bearly get legend at the end when every good player is no longer playing to challange them…
And having division drop still won’t do kitten to people like me who hit legend on first week on 80%+ w/l and then get bored for 3 months. so reducing that to 3 weeks is a good deal for me.

The thing is, division drop in itself is a really arbitrary system. It still makes the game about winstreaks rather than consistent skill.
Someone who wins 60% of their games but never wins more than two at a time is better than someone who wins 40% but has streaks of 10+ through matchmaking. And yet the second player is the one that progresses leagues (and keeps progressing), while the first is going to struggle to even make it to ruby under the current system.

Again, leagues should be MMR brackets with weekly rewards for staying in a league and a decay over time. Make the whole winstreak for pips idea go away.

Here’s my suggestions I posted in another thread about MMR.
Untie rewards from division threshold. (PvP tickets and Backpack division crosses mainly.)
Increase amount of tiers in divisions. Reward PvP tickets for every match won, extra on a win streak.
Remove safety nets once reaching Emerald. (Can not fall back into Amber)
Only pick people within piprange of you.
Don’t have PvP ‘Seasons’, have it up as a continuous element of gameplay. Reward on a monthly basis of gold/transmutation charges/titles, depending on your position determines how much/what title if any.

Along with those, the Legendary Leaderboard should have a decay in which if you don’t participate you eventually end up at the start of Emerald. Losing X amount of pips per week of non-activity. (basically you fall off the Leaderboard and lower, no one should hover in legendary)
