Leagues 1-3 Redundant & ruin Ruby
problem is with the current 50/50 win loss matchmaking system the casual players would not progress and you would lose all of them which means no farming of pugs by pre made which means more QQ’ing by the “pros” which makes Anet sad.

Thats just an excuse for greedy players and poor designers
That was my point…..The current league system doesn’t cater for the masses which is really casual players……its too easy for the more active Pvp’ers to manipulate MMR/team comp etc to farm solo q pugs. If you now made it so those poor souls also lost pips and tiers, very quickly there would be no fodder for the Ruby-Diamond players.

How do you lower your MMR? I’ve been losing a lot of matches but still have the highest mmr in my teams and 5 to 10 minute wait times.
Because you can’t lose Tiers in Amber, Emerald, or Sapphire that means that bad players will eventually make it to Ruby because they will just grind.
I’m halfway through Ruby so its frustrating when players on my team clearly don’t deserve to be there and drag your team down.
The only way they got there is by luck and enough grinding.
If you remove no tier loss from Amber, Emerald, and Sapphire they will never make it there unless they actually are skillful enough.
This will make players across all skill levels have less volatile matches and more likely to play other people in their relative skill range.
Everything you point out was points out by myself and others the first week League play began. Some of us were evening pointing this out before it began when they outlined how it would work…. The best I can figure, the tier lock-in for Amber-Sapphire exist to give the solo queue lovers a place to grind into Ruby. They will need skill and a great deal of luck to get there but with enough time it can be achieved… Your average PvE focused player enjoys grind. Some to a small extend, some love it a great deal (or will tolerate it) for the rewards. They are accustom to “play more = reward”.
Well, those of us who do PvP in other games and focus on PvP in general know player more does not equal reward in PvP. You play to get good. Then you keep working on your game, but you’ll get to a point where you’re facing other players who are right at your level or just a little above. When you get there then you’ve capped out. GW2’s PvP system has to be designed to keep the PvE players happy too and that’s what Amber-Sapphire are about. It’s a progression path in PvP where “play more = reward” happens.
Then you get to Ruby and things change. Without tier lock-in you may find you just can’t win enough to progress to Diamond. You will have reached your cap.
They should keep the tier lock-in a solo queue thing or remove it altogether.
OP, if you are complaining that bad players are holding you back from advancing in ruby, then your suggestion would make it worst. Imagine you could be stuck at amber this whole time because you have had a string of bad teams.
I think that tier loss should be a thing in every league as well, however I think that during leagues, a player’s MMR rating should be completely disregarded and matchups should be against random people in the same league as them. Sapphire shouldn’t be playing with ruby which I have seen regularly. Isn’t the whole point of a league in anything to only play against the other people/teams in the same league as you? This would get rid of losing on purpose to advance tiers and it would not affect matchups and although games would probably be unbalanced at first, those winning a lot would progress and those losing would not. This system would mean that leagues actually represent skill and would stop people reaching diamond through grinding alone with not much need for actual skill, like I have done.

Adding tier lose to the lower tiers would make the problem worse, all that would do is essentially make ruby division 3 times longer, alk the bad players would get stuck in emerald and then because of the massive amount of people stuck there, you will consistently get bad teams. No one but premades would progress, your solution is essentially to make the same problem happen sooner in the leagues and make it even more RNG
It’s already been mentioned but all you are suggesting is lowering the “trash” filter into an earlier division (causing people like you to get stuck in the kittenfest that is currently ruby, much earlier aka you would be stuck with kitten in emerald instead)
