This has never happened to me before this evening, but happened twice tonight as I was completing my PvP daily. I had downed an enemy player, they had used their skills, they were on the ropes. I move in for my flag finisher, and they vanish. And I think to myself, “Self… that was a ranger/engineer/warrior. They should not have a downed stealth skill.” Upon checking the leaderboards, the player had actually left the game rather than get killed.

Now, I felt a little cheated. Not sure if I should… maybe motivating someone on the other team quit is better than finishing them off. But I just don’t understand what would motivate someone to do that, I guess. If I play better than you, I win. If you play better, you win. There are sometimes I get finished off thinking “No way that guy is a better player than me.” or “Could’ve taken that guy if he hadn’t had backup/trebuchet.” but that only motivates me to get back out there, take some points, and if I’m lucky enough to meet the dude again, to rematch. shrugs Has this happened to anyone else? Someone who has Downed-quit care to enlighten me as to why this is a good strat?

Sometimes teams are massively off balance and suck to play in.

Lots play sPvP while they wait for tornaments so might have the “Go now” button sitting on their screen.

Players test builds in sPvP ie Try something doesn’t work so leave and re-adjust the build.

PvE players give it a go decide getting smashed isn’t fun and go back to PvE.

Real life happens.

Doesn’t happen often. I much prefer players to leave as opposed to the ones that just stand in the base blocking anyone else from evening out the teams.

Very rarely happens but typically they’ll leave just before you kill them for 2 reasons.

1. Denies the enemy team 5 points from the kill. Might not seem like a lot but in those really close games…yeah
2. Depending on how good your pc is, its actually faster than waiting for downed timer, sucks i know. Not so much of a problem in tourns now but when you had wave spawns and you were about to get a 20 second CD, people abused this a lot and its very annoying.

yea i do it too. i always reckoned it must annoy someone this thread kinda confirms that.. main reason why i do it is zerg kills.. when im getting overrun by 5 or 6 people thats kinda me having the last laugh. secondary reason testing build.. wich obviouly failed and going back to the drawingboard to make something else.

I usually only do that when testing a new build and it fails so horribly that I need to go back to the mists to change it. Haven’t really done it for this month though.

this happens A LOT in EB’s jumping puzzle.
imo if someone Alt+f4, the character should stay in game for another 10sec instead of insta disappearing, this way the person(s) who managed to killed them gets rewarded for doing so.

I’ve done it once or twice. Typically It would be because some teammate(s) are AFK and I just get fed up being the only capper and continuing to play would be a waste of time. Another time was I testing a build and it clearly wasn’t working out (still can’t make a condition based build that’s viable) and the game was already lost.

When the Team are incredible unbalanced I can understand that. I had some matches yesterday in which all ranks 20+ (inclusive me) were on one side. The other team just had players with a rank under 5 >_>

I rage quitted too a couple of times, mostly when i’m playing a bad hotjoin class and i’m going against a team with stacked mesmers and thieves.
