Let me get this straight ....
You are not wrong. They kept MMR so that the PvE noobs could also progress. Problem is that they are in higher tiers than substantially better players because the better ones are being farmed by the ESL teams every game.
So can someone tell me how exactly to advance in the League system without gaming the system or wishing for some sort of dumb luck that the imperfect MMR give you a winning streak? Clearly it has nothing to do with skill, the MMR made sure of that.
We aren’t allowed to say get lucky, so I will say ~pray~.

It gets pretty frustrating, but you just need win streaks. When I was getting constantly matched against premades, I just waited before I requeued. Picked up a team build I wasn’t too disgusted to play and just tried to play around getting bad teammates. Sometimes you get good teams, sometimes you get bad ones, but you just need to adapt to their gameplay if you wanna progress in leagues. It is definitely possible, though. It will be frustrating to face proleague teams of 5, but not every game will be like that. I only soloqueued and I’m in Sapphire now.
However, I kinda don’t know why I’m doing it anymore, since I don’t really have as much fun as I did before in pvp.

Yeah it’s stupid. Your best bet is just to play until you hit those lucky win streaks so you go up a tier which you can’t lose afterwards.
Once you’re in Ruby, just give up solo queueing.
Nooctae ( Thief ) / Encelya ( Engineer ) / Jane Crimson ( Elementalist ) / Kowywr ( Revenant )
Europe, Vizunah.
Just 5 minutes before
- 1 more game to advance next tier
- Bumped in full stacked enemy
- Lose 500-0
Anet should create 2 separate queue – solo and party.
It’s why a lot of flak is being given for it, both systems counter each other. It’s a stupid design and needs looking into/changing.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Wrong, it doesn’t prevent players from advancing, it just makes it grindy and painful.
So …. “gaming the system or wishing for some sort of dumb luck that the imperfect MMR give you a winning streak” is the only way huh?
Let’s not forget that premades are even stronger because of the bunkering capacity of Mesmers and other bunker crap. (Viper revenants too)
As far as i recall, your matchmaking depends on how you perform in your previous match (personal score included) and so on and so forth.
and if i am not mistaken (red post clarification if need be) for all this pips and pops, game is team-based loosing a pip means you as a TEAM did not perform well (see TeamScore) at the end of the match cos thats the only one matters. rumors says you need to attain 300 points to not loose a single pip of course the greater the number the better. (Unless the system has change) ^^
Between a master and apprentice, i would love to see the differences.
This seems really confusing and completely pointless.
If the system doesn’t even accurately show how good you are then what’s the point?
I don’t understand why Anet doesn’t just copy a game that actually works “League of Legends”. They actually know what they’re doing.
1. Solo queue
2. Simple Elo/Brackets
Easy.
