Longevity
Problem is pvp has always been a bit of a niche. I think most games I’ve played have called it about 5-10% of the pop that actually participates on a regular basis.
But I mean, personally I completely agree. I like the pve and WvW, but sPVP is kind of the one thing that never gets old for me.
Anet has created a PvE game that is extremely casual-friendly. It’s a game that, by their own admission, is a game that is meant to be played, put down, and picked back up later.
The only people who play the game and put it down are people who play 10+ hours a day and burn through the content. Very few people fit into this category. It makes no sense to cater to hardcore players who represent .0001% of customers. The PvE treadmill was designed to be operated at walking pace, not Usain Bolt. World of Warcraft hardcore raiders fooled themselves into this game thinking it offered the same.
As for sPvP.. well, unless you’re rank 80+ …
This games pve was designed to be played at casual pace. A pace where you can enjoy the surroundings, explore the map and kill the baddies. Rushing heart to heart is a waist of this game, grinding your face to the finish as early as possible is not how the game was designed.
GW1’s pvp was interesting. You could take your PVE character there and then play PvP with it. The gear differences here though would make that painfull.

I can tell you now, by the end of this year people would of had enough and the majority of pvp players will just leave this game.
People forget the reason we are all here is because since August 2012 there have been NO Big western game releases, the reason Anet rushed there game out of the door was because they saw that they would have 0 competition meaning they have all the market and all the players to themselves.
Wait until the Big MMOS release near the end of this year, Wildstar, The Elder Scrolls Online, Archage (not this year but), B&S… when people have more options they won’t be willing to put up with Anet’s terrible job at handling this games PVP they will just leave and not come back.
This post is me just wondering out loud if the developers see that they are pumping morphine into a dying soldier instead of using it to get another through surgery that will save his life. I think PvP in this game has limitless potential if only the tools were in place to allow us to help it to its summit.
lol
+1 for the metaphor.
I agree with you, but they used their morphine on the dying soldier while carring on surgery on the other one without morphine….
Many dedicated pvpers left the game already, i hope its not too late to fix things, but whenever it will happen it surely took too long.
