… why is it a thing. 500-100 matches should not happen but they do and quite frequently too. Isn’t whole purpose of matchmaking to prevent this from happening? Why does it force players into matches that are simply unwinnable and also deduces a lot of ranking points for such matches. What is the purpose, Anet? Where do such matches fit in your grand scheme of “fair” pvp system. Please tell me.

It’s actually a lot better in this season. In 40 games, I’ve had like 3 compared to the previous one which was every other game.

Thats because the teams having same RATING doesn’t mean the skill and teamplay skill level is also same. Rating is just numbers nothing more in this solo/duo q, Some players have same rating and still don’t know how to play to help the team. Some players same but also bad in 1v1’s and die fast in every teamfight.

A lot of luck factor which team got more skilled and smarter players with right comp even if the rating of the teams is the same.. it doesn’t count.

Players skill and teamplay skill in both teams as a whole and comp thats all that counts.

People using duo q to take advantage so a lot of bad players will have higher ratings than they should have and you will get matched with them if you have the same rating.

I think 500-100 score could happen even though the teams are balanced. Sometimes a team justs gets very lucky while other team is busy arguing or something.

I doubt any matchmaking could entirely avoid games like that.

Expect games like that to happen every now and then. But if they are happening constantly it might have to do with the league you are on, some players pretty much give up/dont know what to do after they lose the first group fight at middle.

Most of the games I’ve had that have been “lopsided” are ones where the other team has the superior team comp. Like a team I faced had 2 eles and 2 DH. They just camped mid and home while the warrior ran back and forth. Didn’t help that my team would just run all over the place and go down in 2 seconds flat. But I’ve been on the other side of the fence too.

What I would like to see is the game try and balance out the teams a bit, over stacking one team over the other. Most matches I can yell what tram should win by the comps, sometimes I’m wrong, but most of the time I’m right. And no, I’m not being salty as I’ve won more matches than I’ve lost.

it has more to do with player knowledge of rotating and knowing whats going on in the map at any given time. i have been in matches where the other team was better at pvp but we were better at rotating and out smarted them.

This whole balanced matchmaking BS is well… BS! Since the beginning of the season I had only 2 games where the outcome was not set in stone when the gates opened. Blowout after blowout… my win ratio is around 40% so thats not extremely bad (could be better though), but I STILL DONT GET COMPETITIVE MATCHES! Stuipd… What was all the hype for then?

I am a dedicated PvP player and it hurts my PvP soul to see it being degraded so much.
Biggest mistake was the Duo queue (wanted by the Community, lets not forget that!) which was voted mainly by Forum users. Most of the ingame players didnt have any vote to vote at all…

The Consequence of this Change is very bad Match Quality. Im playing PvP since Release and this Season is flooded with Reward greedy people who dont care about Teamplay as long as they get their reward – Even playing bad doesnt prevent them to get tons of Rewards for – well – nothing literally.

So the Mentality in PvP went even more Toxic, since we can drop now in Divisions. Players who were not lucky in Qualification are being punished with bad Players and cannot influence Team quality at all, because we are forced to play as duo or solo with random people we cant pick.

All those Stats Anet added are useless for your personal rating, on the other Side they are great for better rewards.
So personal skill only influences the Rewards instead of the rating, like it should be.
I just had a match in which our team had a thief who just started to play the game two days ago.
After suggesting him to go unranked for practise he refused and answered:
" get best rewards in ranked, so i play ranked.."
He had almost 200 Account points and obviously didnt know what to do at all.
But hey, he will get his reward.

Now, i have almost 20 000 Account Points and i was paired with someone new to the game.
So Account Points dont count into rating.
I know that Account points dont show at all how good a player is, but it shows at least how much the player has seen of the game and you can expect some experience.
But in this matchmaking the system seems to put all in the same pit, no matter if good or not and the whole progrees becomes pure luck based, since you cannot influence who you play with.

Im very disappointed by this Season and if this system remains, ill stop playing this game.
In my opinion, Teamplay is a huge thing in a teambased PvP mode.
Removing the possibility to form a viable Team is the worst thing Anet could do to PvP Match Quality.
And the community even helped there…
There are almost no close matches anymore, most of them end with high Score Difference.
My goal in PvP in general is, to experience great matches, where no one knows whos winning until the very last minute….but thats gone now sadly.

The game is filled with toxic players, giving up, leaving, ranting, accusing, afking and so on.
Its not that it never existed before, but it was fed by this new system even more.
If people lose their Division, their Rage Level increases, and thus ranting is preprogrammed.

How about adding Account points, personal stats Aand win/lose rate into personal rating?
And PLEASE, return 5man Teams again.
A 5v5 Mode without forming a 5man team in a game that wants to be competitive and Esports is just wrong.
Splitting 5man Teams into 2man teams would be okay if Anet would create 2v2 Arenas….but they didnt.

The System wasnt fixed at all and Anet just manipulated the Community to accept the bad System with tons of rewards, which indeed calmed down many people.
But the system is still broken and Anet degraded it even more by adding Duo queues.
Randomizing PvP like this will chase away many loyal PvP players.
Save PvP before its too late!

It should have been separate solo and 5-man ONLY, none of this duo BS, the way it was in the past.

Oh, I was calmed down alright…for two weeks. Then I realized, I am a 4 year vet stuck in freakin BRONZE. You know, supposedly the division where all the beginners end up? Ha! Fat chance! All kinds of people of different skill levels end up here provided they got unlucky and had a bad day on their placement games.

I have no delusions about PvP anymore.

The queue vote was put on there web site and on the “news” feed on there games launcher. If people don’t read these things then it’s there look out. Saying people didn’t get a chance to vote, you are just lying to yourself.

The the problem with the league is that it’s not a true league, the game is a 5 player team game. Key word, team. A team is only as good as the players in it. So winning or losing is pot luck, regardless of how good you are, of the other 4 players don’t know what they are doing or how to play well enough, you are mot going to win. The league, to really mean anything needs to be a full 5 man team to enter a match kind of thing. But that will never happen because it’s not the kind of game Guild Wars 2 is. It’s a casual game. I my self play the league when I feel like it, and normally.no.more that 3-4 matches a day if I feel like it. I know I’m not the best, so I’m not going to try to be, the same with a lot of people who play PvP, sure I’ll give it my all in a match, but I’m not going to try and get to the top of the board or anything, it means very little to me. And if the league did change to “must be a 5 man team to start” I’d probably never touch the league again.

I’ve enjoyed the league this far, the placement matches seemed a bit pointless but in all I think this season has been the most enjoyable so far.

I really hope Anet considers what you have taken the time to write here because it’s spot on from my perspective. I’m not good with words, easier for me to just say “it’s crap” but you summed it up nicely.

I would also like to add in that Anet should give new players a low rating, not an Average players rating. An average player has knowledge of class mechanics, map mechanics and so forth and an Average player can’t carry a new player like a PRO can. Maybe we can give new players a rating of +1900 so the pros can carry them instead? Something tells me this change would be considered unfair though….

I mostly play for the new Free-For-All arena in PvP lobby.
