I don’t get the logic behind all these thread complaining about matching system a few hours into the league because they lost a few games. You do not know your mmr or enemy mmr, how did you know enemy having more mmr than you anyway? And since you are getting matched with people around your rank why would you blame the matching system for the loss.

I know this might be crazy to you but maybe you are the reason of loss?

Some must fight so that all may be free.

or maybe you should read up on how matchmaking works. Then you will be able to answer your own questions.

@style how does matchmaking work? I searched and found this:
“Season 2 matchmaking was changed from Season 1 Ranked and Unranked matchmaking to help ensure league positions correlated more with skill instead of simply being based on the hours played. These changes saw a multitude of improvements for Season 2, but unfortunately they also spread out win rates further than we would have liked, as matches became a bit too uneven. We’ve created a new matchmaker for Season 3 that will strike a balance between the two previous seasons, accomplishing the same goals of accuracy from Season 2 but doing so with the evenness of matches that players experienced in Season 1.”

We already know that the system is not balancing the opposing teams – quite the opposite actually. It will put all the better players on one team, creating an inherently unfair matchup.

That’s why people are complaining.

(and no, waiting “till it sorts out” is not an option – people were advising that during the previous season too, but in practice the “sorting out” turned out to require way more time than the season length)

Actions, not words.

Actually, in the current system it will only get more out of hand over time.

Right now people are in a tier with people that have reached a similar level in the past. So the matches will be even (even though already affected by giving one team an MMR advantage).

Soon however, people from lower tiers will join that pool. Diluting the MMR and giving bigger stomps..

Those ‘stuck’ now are most likely the less good players of the previous tier they reached. They cannot win from the better ones in their pool and will have to wait for the ‘lower MMR’ players to join up so they can stomp those (in this rigged system)..

@Hanza, sounds about right, but there will always be skill differences, so what you described is hard to avoid.
If I as a previous legendary choose to start playing this season next week I will be matched against ‘the best’ of previous seasons sapphire → resulting in blowouts you can’t avoid.

What is always fun to read is that every game put a good team versus a bad one… but strangely enough everyone on the forum seem to think he does not belong to the bad team he has been assigned to.
People who complain because they are paired with baddies should group together and mess up the matchmaking by entering as premade because apparently so many good players deserve a better place in the league. Go on invite people from the forum, create teams of good players and normally there won’t be any issue any more.

Actually letting things settle is necessary because I’m sure (because I witnessed it) that many people haven’t a single clue of changes since last season and played yesterday the same build as last season. Worse, some may not have noticed they have no amulet in their build since merc got removed.

Im not complaining in any way I just wanted to point out my views as a newer gw2 player that was not in the last season. Firstly i want to point out im not claiming to be some uber pvp player but nor do I think that I have no skill at all been pvp’ing in MMO’s since UO.

So I did play GW1 and I came to GW2 about 4 months ago. I typically hate using metas but understand I have to and did to learn a couple classes in the game so I could start learning PVP in the current system.

That being said I will put it out One more time for those that cant read and might have missed it. I know Im not a LEET pvp’er. that’s for the morons that will insist on flaming on my skills and defending the “system”

Now on to my observations as a pvp player in gw2. I came in not knowing crap and got destroyed at first.(fingers still hadn’t learned key map) My two classes are necro and Druid.(the whole Life/Death theme ) after about a week or 2 i started getting good fights now im not talking about score i mean my personal results where getting better and I could hold my own in 1v1’s and 1v2’s 1v3’s well that was a kitten show. All throughout I was about 60/40 win loss ratio. And also getting very different teammates.

Then Came Ranked I thought ok well I feel ok about how its going in Unranked so lets try it. I got a 1-17 win loss right now and 12 of those where yesterday(one Win at the very end on my night and it was actually a different team). Ok so at about 3 losses I thought geezz this is not going so well so I started paying more attention to teammates I was getting and noticed two I recognized then realized in my next 8 matches I was in the same team against the same enemies. and we where getting rolled. 600+ to 50"s I was just currently in a match with some new folks and had 3 of the enemy fighting me on Waterfall on my druid and all 4 where somewhere else and couldn’t even cap one node.

Not to mention the fight after fight of people fighting in the most obscure areas of the map in no way are they contributing to the match other then maybe “distracting” the flow i guess but thats being hopeful.
So in ending there is no way anyone could convince me that matching is not Borked beyond belief with the flow of PVE’ers im noticing.

No. It never worked like that. I have no idea where people get this from.

In S2 each team got players of the same skill. Your opposing team can be of lower, higher or the same MMR as your team. You only have 1/3 chances of facing a better team. The same holds true for S3, only the discrepancies between the MMR of the 2 teams are lower.
