Getting 3 pips is not too hard, a 3 game win streak happens often. 5 game win streak not so much.
Instead of 5×5 tiers make it 8×3. Instead of 6×5 make it 10×3. Instead of 7×5 make it 12×3.
Overall number of pips remains the same but the chances of progressing are much better. Of course, lower the tier rewards accordingly.

I’m sitting on 4 pips right now and I’m afraid to queue because I can already see the miserable loss and a spiral down to 0.
A game should not make me afraid to play it.

Yeah, so? There’s still diamond and Legendary after it.
Besides, everybody already thinks that high division people got there either by tanking their MMR or by going premade and farming soloers.

So….

If we continually focus on making systems easier to advance within for the sole sake of feeling good about having advanced rather than focusing more on becoming more skilled not just as players but as people, we will continue to perpetuate a culture which rewards rather than dissuades feelings of entitlement. If unchecked, this cultural attitude will spread and further promote and compel others to be less constructive, innovative, and concerned with individually acting in a way which may promote beneficial changes. With less constructive and innovative action overall, we will increasingly compel ourselves to pursue invention which is more about ease and comfort rather than the more ground-breaking improvements needed to address more significant issues, like preventing nuclear war, starvation, death from disease and famine, murder from increasingly radicalized religious beliefs, overpopulation, etc.

It’s promoting an attitude which will encourage us to be lesser people and could potentially undermine the pursuit of innovation that could save humanity (or at least some small part of it).

(I bring up the most grandiose aspects of this problem not out of a desire to insult you, but because I want this message to have a more lasting impression. Hopefully, I’ve succeeded in the latter and not undermined my credibility to you as a source of information by appearing to be someone who does the former. Have fun!)

On the other hand, mankind has invented many instruments to make social mobility easier and to make losses less catastrophic for people who were willing to take risks to make better things. For example, we invented Limited Companies so that entrepreneurs don’t have to lose everything they personally own just because their investment fails, therefore encouraging people to venture into new businesses. We have also invented various social safety nets to make sure that people who have blundered can recover their lives and not fall deeper and deeper into poverty.

Well, this is a vidio game. A form of entertainment. Something I and many others to for fun after a long day at work/school.The day GW2 solves world hunger and prevents a nuclear war is the day I eat my shoes.
You talk about “constructive and innovative action” but from what I see, you are not providing those. Your advice seems to be the good ‘ol “git gud”.
I have no delusions about being a legendary player, but after a couple thousand games, I’d say I’m pretty decent. So why must I rise to the level of carrying the entire team just to get out of emerald purgatory? There are many posts here and on reddit about people spending hours upon hours playing and not progressing.
That is not a well designed system and needs to change.

Lol. I stopped reading after this. You think GW2 is about skill right now? You must be delusional. What skill is involved in spamming condi AoE and button-mashing? Do tell. Because currently there is this lame "Cancer Bunker" meta. What once used to be a promising game and skillful gameplay in GW2 is rapidly deteriorating, if not already. IIRC, recently an ESL EU pro league team with 2 condi revenants defeated another team with score of 500-0. Taking nothing away from the winning team, but this is more of a wanting issue regarding GW2 mechanics and development, or lack thereof.

Also, there is no "skill" involved in intentionally tanking your MMR for the purposes of farming easy PIPs for tPvP league advancement nor farming soloQers as premades.
