Definitely shocked to see Mesmer that low, everything else looks pretty standard

Yep. 0 eles pretty standard.
Seeing any would have surprised me.
this is actually a pretty decent spread… granted eles are not even visable and mesmers are alittle lower BUT there is no proffesion wich is really over presented! and all in all a pretty okay spread!

Because there isnt any competition in the game and the population is very low, but certain classes are way stronger than the others.
Im so happy my main class since launch isn’t even here… oh wait!

I see what you did there!

It’s funny because the class which was balanced (ele) is not playable anymore!!
And then, the classes that were made viable are insanely OP!
I love this balance team so much ;D;D;D;D;D;;DD
I can’t wait october 15th. What can they break this time??
:o
I didn’t even notice ele had no piece of the pie, lol.
Pretty good to see a generally even split among most classes (except Ele ofc). Mesmer representation was a little low but I think its going to swing back over the next few tournies

Does anet pay you? Wake up, gw2 is among the most unbalanced AAA PvP games
Guys it’s simple,
pro players want to win using easy classes with proven and mechanically effective builds. This is also why you didn’t see Invoker much in dota TI3. Invoker is a complex character you need to practice ALOT but his base damage and skills were nerfed.
So it’s simple. You want to win and be competitive? You pick the most overpowered build/class you can find. Not a complex flashy character who has to work twice as hard to land their DPS.
AKA ‘safe’ picks.

Profession diversity was amazing in the MLG tournament. Eles will be back in the meta in no time; calling for kneejerk balance won’t help anything in the long run.
Also consider that nearly every player of each profession used a vastly different build (except for ranger and necro). Engineers, guardians, warriors—most of them were using builds with practically nothing in common. There were forty total players, and probably something like 25 significantly different builds. That’s incredible.

Well mesmers are “op” as we keep getting told :p
Cyrus Glitch – sPvP/tPvP Mesmer
Doctor Loki – sPvP/tPvP/WvW Power Necro
Two Classes Rangers and guards take up the meat of the graph 43% together.
Almost More then Five Classes; Elem Engi Mesm Thief Necro combined 44%
I think that looks pretty good really. Keep in mind it’s a horribly low sample size, and you can’t really nitpick individual %s like that. Ele is the only glaring problem there imo.
brb , looking for magnifying glasses to see eles
oh wait….

These are always fun to look at, but remember class representation does not correlate with balance, if you want to balance at the top.
Basically, most of the pvp population just copies what other people do. Even “top” teams.

Dunno, I would swear one of the main reason warriors and necros got their buffs was because “their lack of representation on high end ranks, not only tournaments”, but of course Im just decrepit

It may be a small sample and not statistically significant still;
EVERY team had a Guardian. It has been like this for some time since beta really
Not one profession can replace the guardian, this needs to change.
Only One team did not run a spirit ranger,
The team running two spirit rangers almost won the tournament.

This was most likely the reason why, but I think these 2 classes were fine before the patch. Necros were not seen because engineers needed to come down a little bit, and necros were also less self-sufficient. There’s nothing wrong with this, because this is a team game, after all. But instead they get buffed so that they don’t need to really be supported.
Warrior were kind of in the same spot: they needed to be supported and then they were capable of being really really good. Personally I wanted to play with one for a while, but there was really only 1 option on NA at the time who was always on a team.
This game’s balance will drastically change when top teams start realizing what they can pull of when they coordinate and work together. Once this happens, it will start to trickle down to lower tier teams and pugs, shifting the balance in these environments too. This happens because most of the population just copies what the people that win are doing.

I would agree that Guardian right now is not replaceable. However, I think it’s in a REALLY good spot. It’s relatively easy to pickup at a low level, but at the same time there’s a lotttt that can go into it when it comes to higher-tier team supporting.
I think the biggest thing that holds back other classes from playing this ‘team fight support’ role is the lack of team-wide stability. For example, I think a ‘CC bunker warrior’ could fill the guardian role if it had stand your ground. What it brings, and what it doesn’t bring would be different though. Also, one of the reasons why bunker guardians are so prevalent, and will remain so, is because people have been playing them since the start of the game. I know the build I use is relatively the same (at least, the play style is) since a year ago. It’s going to be hard for something else to compete when it’s essentially behind a year on play time.
Also, yes I think spirit ranger is stupid and needs to come down (I played one for my team), but I don’t think that’s why they came in second for the tournament. I don’t mean to offend anyone with this, but even while being somewhat out of practice, SYNC are just better players than the other NA teams that were in this tournament (which is all they had to play until the finals). This is coming from my experience of playing with and against them. You can’t just blindly say all the teams are equal and it comes down to their comp.

good graph thanks for doing it.
However not suprising, this is EXACTLY what one would predict given the current meta.
Sad thing is, most eles really want to play d/d, which they can’t anymore. And the alternatives they are forced into don’t even appear in this graph. LOL!
Even if they fix the meta, eles won’t be happy. I miss playing (also playing against) the old harassing d/d ele, but that gameplay has kind of collapsed. Weird rushed nerfs to mobility a few months ago (RTL+LF). I expected those to be reversed quickly but that never happened.
Ripping the heart out of d/d. THATS the big ele problem for the last 5 months, not the bloody condi meta that everyone is on about now. That’s a bonus on top that clouds the real issue.

I never really cared about D/D, while refreshing for a “mage” archetype, im a die hard Gandhalf-master-of-elements-staff-wearer-bring-mayhem-to-enemy-lines, staff has the potential to be one of the greatest weapon sets of the game if it wasnt because it is aimed for decimating golems and af]k players (everyone can avoid everything even without been aware of it or even trying), and since its support is still kinda lacking (CDs, the spells are fine, the CD is what isnt)

well… All thieves had the same build, the only one thieves have atm.
Community secretly banned ele as the class is OP.
Better nerf it.

Nope. There were four thieves, and only three of them used SD initiative spam. Caed did quite well with his custom DP burst/mobility build.

Then you haven’t played a lot of MMORPG, because in almost every forum there is always someone like you saying the same kitten, in guild wars 1 people were saying the same kitten. It is almost like balance is something that is never truly achievable.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
I think the fact that sPvP is all about Conquest really distorts the balance issues a bit.
Thieves for example rely either on Stealth, which sucks for Conquest, or Evade-spam…which can still easily die to AoE and Conditions. Elementalists are in a similar position as they require mobility to survive and can’t just tank on the spot.
I don’t really understand why Mesmers aren’t so popular. They seem to be universally useful for pretty much everything. But maybe all the AoE in the current meta counters them too hard.
I love pies.
later. It doesn’t care that I’m there.”
Basically what I gathered from the graph:
Rangers, and Guardians are severely overpowered and thus were significantly over represented at 20-23%.
Warriros are slightly overpowered and thus were slightly over presented at 15%.
Engineers, Thieves, and Necromancers are just on par at 13% (basically on 100/8)
Mesmers and Elementalists are severely underpowered and thus were significantly under represented.

In which mmorpg a class is represented by 0%?
