MMR loss from losing is insane
If that is true you lost to a Group that had a Lower average Mmr than you…..
Don’t worry, your mmr ponts aren’t wasted, the other team should have gained all of them
If that is true you lost to a Group that had a Lower average Mmr than you…..
No, it’s because i have 2k+ mmr therefore every loss is -30 and every win is +5 PERIOD. its the most moronic thing ive ever seen. it literally does not matter whatsoever how bad my team is or how good the other team is. -30, every, single loss.

The only time I have ever seen Mmr loss and gains like those is when I helped a Guildy get out of Bronze where my Mmr was at 1500 while his was 700 and the losses were -20 and wins +4, if what you say is true and you didn’t have an outlier affecting the average Mmr then that is very weird.

Everyone is an outlier whan i play. that’s the issue. a freaking rank 100 player has over 200 less rating than me. if youre not top 250 you might have 300 or 400 less rating. that doesn’t mean that im not literally put with bronze players to compensate. some teammates are ACTUALLY impossible to carry, but the game still punishes me as if I shouldve 500-0’d the other team.
You do realize that a few of us have made the same complaints just not at the same degree?
Like ive lost to a few of the people in the top 50 and i i lost -18,-19,-20. Then when i win i get +10-,11,12.
I even post some of the builds we lose too and my team mates refusals to swap to any other classes.
I got a +3 yesterday after a close win. Please alot of people are going threw this issue and not in the top 250.
Generally what I can tell you is: if you have a win streak and then you lose the loss of rating is massive. The best is to win 2 games, lose 1, win 2, lose 1, and so on.
Losing quadruple the amount you gain is normal off prime time.
how about 6x?
It does seem like the penalties are too harsh for high tier play. It might cause high rated players be be overly cautious about matchmaking: only play in prime time, play just the minimum needed to prevent decay, and hope you don’t RNG roll a bad team or a bad comp. Matchmaking may be even more risky at the top because there are fewer players there and the rating sort may balance available players into the same teams over multiple games – I believe I saw ROM get screwed by this on his stream.
It seems like at the high level (and at every level?) its better to incentivize the exact opposite: more matches instead of fewer.
Ultimately I think the rating adjustment should take into account personal performance at some level. Its just not fair otherwise. Using the stat badges might be a start, but there are some kinds of activity (like holding/stalemating far) that may not generate many badges but are very useful to the game as a whole.
Even at my lowly bronze level, I don’t play offpeak anymore. Had a 6 game loss streak saturday afternoon, ugh.
It’s pretty silly. Win 2, lose 1 – back where you started.
Especially in bronze where teammates are a diceroll between capable and moronic it’s pretty demotivating.
You are playing a game that is competitively dead, and that has been so for quite awhile. There are, what, 16 people (or rather, accounts) in NA legendary right now? That should tell you all you need to know.
The system and matchmaking aren’t the major problems here. It’s the fact that the game (or at least the mode) has such a dismally low population at this point that it can’t manage to find ten similarly-skilled people to pit against each other in the “higher levels” of play. Because there just aren’t that many reliably available at one time.
It’s simply the sad reality of playing a withered and starved game mode. I’m surprised someone so high on the leaderboard hasn’t already recognized and come to terms with this.
@Stormleaf, whether in fact there are fewer players or not is irrelevant. The rating adjustment should be able to handle mixed-rating teams and do adjustments fairly, and if it isn’t doing that, its a flaw.

not really, if he’s right, then it would mean that it would take much more longer to find you a proper match, if even…

Many people on the forums are saying the opposite, that there are actually many people coming from outside the sPvP community to play, primarily for rewards.
I think there is an issue with the fact that your gain/loss is dynamic depending on the other team. It fails to take into account random factors that happen all the time, like a good player being tired/sick, afk because someone came to the door, decent player raging and playing badly as a result, etc. Just “this team should win b/c higher MMR” is not enough information from which to accurately forecast a winner. It’s the MOST useful individual piece of information, but by itself is hardly enough.
Why not just give/take a static amount of MMR for wins/losses? That way people can move up more quickly. If they’re bad then they’ll also drop back down quickly since their MMR loss won’t be reduced because they were “supposed” to lose. I don’t see why this dynamic adjuster makes the game more fun.
Maybe the only fault of the MMR or Matchmaking system is to create a “fair” game by simply sum up everyones MMR so it ends like:
2.000 (Esl Player) + 800 (PvE- Starter Kid) =equal= 2x lower Gold Tier players (2x 1400).
So if there are rating differences of like over 400 (or higher) on a Team, it ends in that crazy matchups people complain about.
In fact personal skill or game experience is NOT linear with MMR rating.
It’s in the 1st place the amount of games played + win-rating.
And the difference between a Gold and a Legendary player is in 1st place the ability to read the game and to know where to attack/defend or support your team. The difference in mechanical class-mastery is just slight.

there is a massive mechanical difference between #1 and #100. its literally like 10x different between #1 and gold.
500 to 10
500 to 58
Awe you poor thing…
I am barely in gold atm (1365). My experience has been that wins are either +6 or +8. Losses range anywhere from 15-25 points. Something is up with the scoring.
From my perspective there is no point in winning 2/3 of my games only to go no where. Unless they fix what ever issue causing these kinds of deviants, it’ll just means farming the last chest and stopping.
I am sure I am not the only person that has this kind of issue.
I Play WvW to have fun. I don’t find it fun anymore. Therefore I don’t play.
If you were actually playing fellow top 10 players in those matches your win/lose ratings wouldn’t be so extreme. The reason you only get +4 or whatever is because you farm solo q players with 2-300 rating lower than you during offpeak when you know there’s no competition.
No pity whatsoever lmao
gotta stack more Dhs to win games. I bet your loss was because you were the only Dh in the team. Need at least 4
Anyone in the top 5 or 10 can and will lose a game for an immediate -30 points. “Grinding lower players” has nothing to do with rating distribution.
booMs, I would have stopped at 2050 rating where u were, unless some one else got over you and you wanted to grind it out.
I really like how the leagues are set because 1) A person can’t just grind to 10k plus rating and leave everyone in the dust. 2) There needs to be a hard risk for being top 5. Either the 1000 people below you grind their games to catch up or you risk getting that 1 unfortunate game that caused you 4 hours worth of grind and grit.
I think it’s fair, gotta applaud Anet’s decision on that one. Keeps things interesting in the upper Leagues.
Rank: Top 250 since Season 2
#5 best gerdien in wurld
The level of your opponents does determine how much you gain and lose. A team of everybody at 1700 MMR will win/lose around 12/13. Likewise a team of top 10 players duking it out will result in 12/13 win lose.
The whole reason he gets +4 and -30 is because he is fighting lower rated players.
You can’t have it both ways and expect realistic gains and non large losses when your games are like 500-10 & 500-58.
Because the fact of the matter is your actual skill level isn’t good enough to get to higher than where you currently are.
Git gudder.

ofcourse not. You expect people to play a kitten dead game?
Ranked is settling, the top slot players now only need play if they are passed or a game once in a while to prevent decay. The 100-250 some are decaying but more are settled. Very few left actually still moving up to start competing for a slot.
