It may not seem important but I want to point out that MMR is different than rating. Rating is the number we all see. MMR is a magical number created by an algorithm which happens to use Rating as one of the variables.

So Two players with a 1700 Rating and 120W/70L could (and probably will) have different MMR because of the OTHER variables taken into account when computing the MMR.

I see a lot of people using these two terms interchangeably and although they may be complimentary, they are different. Just some interesting trivia i suppose :P

So what do you think MMR is if it’s not your rating? The matchmaker doesn’t make up a composite number based on rating.

We’ve already received plenty of information that matchmaking uses a player’s skill rating for matchmaking. If you still think MMR and Skill rating are different, then I don’t know what else to say.

You can test it yourself. Add all your teammates and the enemies into friendlist and you will see their rating (normal playing times) will be really close to yours (+-20). So no, it does seem to use rating for matchmaking.

OR: the system does use a different MMR, but then it is reallllyy sticky to your rating
