Make Ranked Queue Map Selection Random
I think people vote it (and second to it, Beast map) because it has the least intrusive mechanic. The center point is very large so you can avoid most AoEs, ranged professions have ledges to shoot from and most of the match duration is focused on points and fights and not some other random mechanic. You usually don’t have to worry about lord until late game so most of the match is pure PvP.
Temple would be more popular but it probably loses people with the safe pew pew spots on mid, the smaller capture point on mid and the messy tranquility mechanic. Tranq is sometimes a difficult mechanic to manage with pugs who have never played together before.

Imho the biggest problem is not about lord(which I consider the biggest intrusive mech from all maps even if it only matters on late game), but about kittened rotations + how crazy it is to take out some holders. I mean, as a necro, which is a bad holder, I can sometimes hold middlio against 2 melee guys indefinitely by just moving up and down the point. And then we have friggin waterfall, which has a lot of spots to kite while standing on point. Its kittened.
Fofire is simple and straight forward and so the most booring map ….

The existing weighted random selection is a compromise to give less wanted maps a change to get selected. A pure random selection would mean to ignore the wishes of the majority of the players.

i like foefire if we are dominating them, murdering them where ever they go.
i hate foefire if it is a close match, scores quite close, but they got to our lord first.

tl; dr
i prefer to play matches where my team get to rekt people.
i hate close games. especially that end up in a loss.
foefire and forest can be bad maps for close games, especially if both teams are of similar skill. that’s what i think at least.
kylo is the only map which does not have a map mechanic which speeds up the team score, actually.
forest have beasts, 25 team score per beast, respawns.
foefire have lord, 150 team score, does not respawn, teams usually get lord at 350
temple have stillness, doubles team score gain per capture point held, tranQ which captures all capture points and launches opponents off them.
kylo only have the treb, which you mainly use it to treb middle, because turning the treb to treb other points can be time consuming. and the treb can be destroyed, and it takes time to repair it.
actually, kylo is the true pvp conquest map, and the team who is better at killing, holding points, rotating, trebing will win the map.
other 3 maps have special thingie to speed up the team score gaining process.
in kylo, you only speed up the team score gaining process by quickly murdering the other team members, repeatedly, and it is quite easy to spawn camp too since the two base exits are quite near to one another, unlike the other 3 maps.
I like kylo most :-). I use treb often. It wins me the matches. Get treb, win center, kill whoever comes to me to destroy treb. If treb is destroyed DON´t repair and fight for points.

I think they dont ragequit if the map they voted isnt choosed, because they can enjoy all the maps.
