Have any of you ever stopped to think why damage is within a range in almost every MMO? Why is there a crit % instead of a flat increase to damage even in games like League of Legends?
The debate for partial RNG vs steady damage has been going on for a very long time.
I agree that we should have the OPTION of steady weapons (the current ones don’t match the DPS of normal weapons), but I don’t think everything should be made into steady damage.
RNG on damage shouldn’t be a big issue as its not each hit that matters, its the average. So no it wouldn’t change balancing. It would just make the game a little bit more boring.
So if given the choice of a weapon that did 1-10 damage or 5 damage on each hit. I would take 1-10 everytime.
Computer Science aims to capture real life variables like chance, luck, varied level of weakness from fatigue caused by repetitive action, varied strength of consistent number of blows from weapon, wind friction, unexplained physical phenomenas that surely affect an action and RNG is the only Efficient and close to honest option.
