Are you saying that most of the people currently in legendary are people trolling or going for class achievements?
I think it’s only a small percentage, but it’s enough to waste the time of 4 other people (as well as giving the enemy players an easy win they it should have been more competitive) whenever they enter a match.

No, in your scenario, nearly every player will simply stop playing ranked upon reaching legendary so they don’t drop back down to diamond.
meaning the legendary players that still want to play ranked and the high t6-t7 diamonds will have exponentially longer que times.
not that anet cares, but i’ve had 3 games in a row that people have admitted to trolling/losing on purpose to troll teammates because they don’t care. And it’s not like reporting them actually does anything

I dont see the big deal in dropping legendary? If you are that level player then you should have to prove that you are that level of player. If you start playing stupid then you deserve to drop

The point is they already proved they’re that level of player by reaching legend. With the added risk of losing that division there is little incentive for most players to continue playing after reaching legend.
I thought 20 min queues was bad enough already for me in legend, if you implement this system nobody will be able to play at all in legend cuz RIP q times

This is the reason why I’m still not Legendary despite getting close many times. I’ve learned to never say how close you are cause it’s apparently asking for someone to intentionally throw the game.

This is a win/win situation.
Win win for who??? You are basically trying to pollute and ruin Diamond. How is that a win/win? Besides, this situation of players not giving 100% happens in Diamond and Ruby too. Not everyone cares about hitting Legend, they are just doing the requirements for the back piece.
Anet needs to remove the requirements that promote players to just “be there” in a match. The biggest culprit of course is the daily requirement. That needs to go “bye bye” badly. It’s cancerous to the league.

Profession achievements simply shouldn’t exist for as long as division is account based.
Someone who grinds up to ruby, diamond or legendary with a reaper shouldn’t ever be forced by the game to play a profession they have never played before if they want to complete the legendary back item achievement. It’s not fair to other high division players if their team mates are being forced by the meta design to play professions they often suck at against opponents who are playing professions they earned their rank on.
Doing the profession achievements while progressing is a very unappealing idea because once you have a few wins under your belt you risk them all by playing something you have a higher chance of losing on.
I understand ArenaNet wants to promote players playing multiple things as some kind of mastery, but the concept is very counter to the idea of progressing in a system which heavily punishes experimentation (less skilled, more likely to lose, loses pips) and which punishes their allies who really want to progress but get stuck with players who were forced into playing professions that their skill level won’t match the division they earned on something else.
Idk why it is even a problem. We have faceroll crap like necros (easiest one to get achieves done on, from my experience), scrappers (in this case the game actually plays for you, lol passives), DH and revs that don’t actually take that much effort to be successful on. Play those classes get your achieves and move on.
If you made it to legend, you should have basic understanding of map awareness, positioning, general classes skills etc. It is usually enough to make up for lack of 10000000-games practice on particular class, just don’t engage 1v1 fights you think you can’t win.

OP expand that and you are on. People should be able to lose tiers all the way, except for Amber.

I can feel you op, but sadly, it’s more L2p issue here, in the scenario you described, if you can’t potentially carry 4v5 you don’t really belong to the devision you are in.
