That system was scrapped and replaced with a system where you gain 1 pip for winning and lose 1 pip for losing. The pip system explanation tells you why you gain your pip and for example if you are on win streak it tells you that you get 1 additional point because you are on winstreak.

there is basically no mmr in ranked anymore

you can see your division/pips and know your standing in previous season = that’s your mmr now

Apparently; in this case, Anet defines an ‘explanation’ as either:

You lost a pip. You won a pip or Your pips are unchanged

Ha, ha. I smiled inside when I saw the message. “You won and gain 1 pip.” The new simplified system makes the message kinda silly. I was thinking…. Yeah and? I already know I get a pip for winning! You always get a pip for winning now!!! Arg, ANet! You fooled me!
