Match-making is luck-based now
There’s another possibility that most aren’t willing to accept…
No this isn’t an l2p issue. The same story is coming up repeatedly. I lost 30 in a row last night/this morning. At least one other poster cited a record of 1 for 29. Multiple other players overnight told me they had 20+ losses.

I’m sure there are ton of people on here who can state the opposite of what you are experiencing. They are being teamed up with people who play at their level, but matched up against people in their division range. You’re going to be playing against people who are a lot better than you (if you’re losing that often).
I’m really keen to see an example of a person who has 15 winning streak and is in solo queue.
I played 9 games last night and won all 9 of them (the minimum to reach Emerald). I was queued with someone who reached Legendary last season. We also picked up another guild member later on. Only the later games gave us the slightest bit of trouble when one party member reached Emerald.
This is show you that you are fighting players who do not belong in Amber. Anet added the win streak feature so that players who are suppose to be in higher divisions get out of the lower ones sooner.
Now, not every player who isn’t suppose to be in Amber got out of it last night. They have lives too and may not be able to play enough to get out for the next few days. Also, some players might deliberately wait, either to troll or to try and keep behind the other higher tier players so they can advance without as much trouble. (Can someone confirm whether that could work?)
Give it a few more days for the highest level players to get out of your way. Things should change by then, and you’ll hopefully be back to fair fights.
It’s working as intended. Leagues are going to be more difficult to advance in for most people and that’s intended and perfectly fine with me. That’s doesn’t mean you’ll be stuck in amber Im sure most decent players will make it to at least Ruby eventually once the best players get to Diamond and Legendary. Last season was totally broken so many bads made Diamond or Legendary it was a joke.

Good that you had someone who was in legendary in your team to help you climb the ladder faster. I was in Ruby last season but I have not been matching with team members of similar experience in this season since very beginning. It’s not about the opponents. It’s the team members I matched with.

Lol you duo queue, maybe the OP is solo q ing …. solo q just got cancerous barely holding on my 50% winrate. But wasn’t expecting otherwise to be honest, OP if you want better outcomes q up with a friend. Solo q ing is a pain, but at least it allows you to look at the gane or yourself from a different angle.

This^^ .. hell I would be saphir re by now if I had a teammate who knew how to hold points or rotate for that matter. FYI., I am thumbing up what kuroro said; somehow his text is not showing up.

As I understand it the game is trying to put you with teammates of your own skill level. And at the same time you’ve got people who belong in legendary currently fighting their way out of amber. I myself ran into pro league players twice last night.
Give it some time to get the initial chaos out of the way. If you’re naturally a sapphire skill cap, you’re going to lose a ton of matches initially.

I have an 11 game winning streak as a solo que right now and it isn’t that uncommon, the people in my team have mostly had 5-10 game winning streaks from what I’ve asked at the start of most matches.
the new match making isn’t luck based, it is grouping you with teammates of similar MMR or “skill” to you while only checking pip range for opponents.
so the people experiencing long losing streaks likely had low mmr and are being matched against simply better players.

What if you won 30 straight?
Would there still be a problem or would you think it’s okay because you’re that good and deserve it?
I’m really keen to see an example of a person who has 15 winning streak and is in solo queue.
I have won the 10 games I’ve played, all of them running alts for the league profession achievements.
The opposing team reached 400 once, and 300 in other two games. 4 times they didn’t even score 100 points (one of them being a 500-0).
I’ve had the easiest games at the end of amber / beginning of emerald, probably because that’s the point where all the people who cross amber through grind against low winrates gets stuck.
And I’m not even close to ESL level.

A screenshot showing the wins from the Season 2 PvP league menu that proves your statement. Or it did not happen.

Were you grouped? Solo? What does that list show?

I had 10 in a row last night. I believe some of the good streamers have even posted up to 20 plus.

full solo que, having 10+ win streaks isn’t that uncommon, in fact most of the teammates i’ve had after leaving amber were on 10 game win streaks.
right now match making is grouping high mmr players together and vice versa (low mmr players are grouped up with similar low mmr players) but are playing against each other because both groups are within pip range, resulting in blowouts and huge streaks.
wait until the first bracket of players reach sapphire/ruby and the streakiness should be a bit less wonky.

There’s no way to tell that I was solo tough

Yes, I doubt this is purely a l2p issue. Players who were diamond or legendary last season who struggle to get out of amber (soloQing) seems to be common atm.

I’m sensing a theme here.

Well. I played 7 hours last night and only got to 14 pips in Amber, was legendary last season. Another player from friendlist who played a similar amount of time than me made it to 9 pips in around the same time. He was diamond last season. Noone from my friendlist made it to emerald yet last time I asked around.

I believe he was referring to his friends, etc… I have yet to see a poster mentioned his s1 division standing.
I am sure my MMR is below average now after all the loss streaks because the players in my team are getting progressively worse
They suggested this insanely clearly terrible idea, and plenty of people said “that’s insane…”. I don’t understand why these dev’s are making these blatantly terrible implementations. Either they are genuinely trying to destroy the game, or they have virtually no foresight and understanding of basic statistical concepts.
If you thought last season was grinding to win this is going to be way worse. They’re going to stack all the high mmr players with the high pip players and they’ll just keep winning. Come in with significantly less games and you’re going to finally quit this game.

I had a 18 winning streak yesterday soloqueueing with my thief.
the ppl here with the winning streak are only lucky ppl that have win the few 2-3 matches.
the system that your team have your mmr avarage but the enemy team have totally random avarage let who win gain mmr and teamed with higher skill player and who lose teamed with lower skill player, and so on….
I think they need to fix it.
