Matchmaking

An interesting semantic discussion cropped in in LA map chat about the use of the term Matchmaking as it applies to GW2. Normal sPvP does not have what I (or most people) would/should call “matchmaking.” There is no queuing up, there is no getting matched against evenly skilled players. There is just a bunch of random people happening to pick a room and joining it.
The current system is great if you just want to find a game and dive right in, but IMO it is terrible for balance. A real matching making system where it would queue you up and create/toss you into a room with players of equal/similar rank/elo/whathaveyou, with the potential for separate queues for Solo and Group, would seem far more fair and balanced when it comes to matches and player skill levels.
The way it is set up now a super pro max ranked guy can just jump into any room he wants and run around killing people who have never sPvP’d before. Allowing the potential for this kind of situation to exist definitely seems like it would turn new people testing out sPvP off from it entirely. I mean, who wants to join a game and get trounced by people with vastly more experience/skill? It removes the ability to strictly play against people who are of the same skill and experience level as yourself and makes improvement quite a bit more difficult.
