I don’t know why people complain about duo que’s. It’s not that difficult to juke a team with duos. If the entire team understands pvp, than it shouldn’t be that hard.
I do feel like the matchmaker is trying to give you a 50% win rate (I had a 8 game loss streak after a 10 game win streak in plat, in which my teammates went from competent to completely terrible…) I always fought the same talented people (I knew some on the opposing team, on leaderboards last season) and i always had the same ridiculous low golds on my team…condi-thieves, squishy guardians or just people lost in terms of how to rotate according to their matchups (Engi’s engaging necro in 1v1’s smh)
But to be fair, it just means i needed to carry way harder until i can stay in plat. There were games where i made small mistakes that you just can’t make if you want to win in plat games
Matchmaking hasn’t been too bad so far. I’m in low Gold without many real blowouts.
( mid-Bronze last season with quite a few pre-determined games )
Class stacking is still going strong though. That’s causing some poor matches.

i see double guards often but MM seems trying to do mirror matches. And yes that 50% rate is quite common unless you play very strategic (play times, only duo, maybe avoid some matchups and so on …) .
Yeah yesterday I won 15games in a row I think this put my mmr up. It was always close games with both teams a chance to win. Then today I lost 9 in a row and looking at my team they was far to out of meta to seem pro and we lost bad. I can carry if teams are same level but I can not 1v5 I think my mmr got high so they put me with low mmr to balance it out? Am I right on this?

Forced 50% is real. Instead of offering balance, anet offers forced losses. Rip balance.
Because people cried that they have long queue times so now MM just throws whatever into match and calls it a day. From what i have seen, it looks for 5 ppl in similar rating, once it formed a team it forms enemy team. If it can’t find 5 players in the same range for enemy team, it widens the range. Given how population continues to diminish due to a lot of issues, it becomes even more glaring and situations like following are a norm now:
team A: 1800, 1850, 1800, 1750, 1780
team B: 1850, 1700, 1400, 1455, 1555
Take a wild guess which team will win in such scenario and how many rank points will player 1850 from team B lose/gain?
Team B will obviously lose. The 1850 player will lose huge amount of rank points because the system compares only his MMR and avg enemy team so according to that calculation the match was fair and even and player 1850 shouldn’t have lost. This is huge slap in the face because that 1850 player certainly was trying his best to carry that low rank burden and gets rewarded with rank loss worth of 3 wins. Effectively you play in negative unless you duoq with top players and/or exploit/farm bronzies at 5 am. No wonder people barely pvp and quit this game.
It is 3rd season in a row where i preach for reducing MMR range for MM at costs of queue time and award/deduce ranks based on team avg mmr vs enemy team avg mmr (so you don’t get punished for having gold teammates vs legend players) and not just player mmr vs avg mmr of the enemy team. But they would rather ignore these issues, remove carrots from pvp and let the community bleed out.
P.S. those examples are not exaggeration, i (as plat) had gold teammates while facing team consisting of top 10 players. What the point of matchmaking? Might as well play lottery.

No , it will be the worst scenario .
There will be a huge amount of influx of casual that will not drop to their rightous place (bronze) , and the Leaderboards will stop beeing Prestigious .
They should stop trying reinventing the wheel and use other existing – working systems from other succeful games .
They should just increase the games needed per week (more than 15) so the legimetly players that have the same MMR as you , dont stay afk and be more active .
Or buff specs that allow you to carry your team

You cannot carry players that are 2 divisions below your enemies. Not happening. The suggested changes will at least cause less of such imbalanced matches and not punish higher rated players as much just because they are forced into carrying low ranks. Increase in games won’t do junk, people will still farm bronzies for easy points at 5am, matches will be still wonky. If anything, your suggestions will lead to players quitting pvp all together. Would one really want to play 300 matches with gold teammates vs top 10 players? I hardly doubt it. Even if by some miracle people do decide to play more and population despite lack of carrots does increase, those wonky matches will still happen because the system doesn’t have division limitation.
Your rank depends on your ability to solo entire enemy team and it is just wrong on so many levels.

The worst thing, that it is just alienating playerbase. Was at around 60-65% winrate in upper gold at start of the season, last two days 16 losses, 2 wins. Most of the losses by whopping 400 points (witch is clearly MMR fail).
Right now I even do not want to play GW2 outside new PvE content and occasional WvW days just for fun (not for the new reward, they are dreadful…)
Random Arena in half dead GW1 was better.

But if we increase the games requiment (45) , that mean that you will have more team8s in your rating to face the Elites , if most ppl are forced to play and be online .
The casuals wont get affected
If they implanted your system you want , then they should reduce the PiPs (rewards) from 10 > 5 , plus you wont get any PiP from loss . That way it will force most casuals in the WvWvW and the leaderboards will be prestigious

And coming from PvP oriented players. Most of use can care less for the rewards. But w/e ANet like to allow for such a fail system to linger on.
It’s will I now finds myself playing more game’s like Smite and Paragon. Even tho I’d love to do nothing else but PvP with characters that I’ve made. But the system’s are soo bad, that if I continue to play with my actually competitive mindset. I’ll more then likely die from a stroke or a heart attack way before the system becomes worthwhile to participate in just for anything other then crappy rewards.
As a player who have completed nearly everything accept for the raids. Lets take a moment to break it to you.
The ascended gear in PvP and Fractal venders cost more then 20 gold difference then just buying the mats to craft them. That is before you even have to worry about the PvP ranked, and fractal marks. Those are at Trailblazer levels. So if you are looking to craft any other ascended gear you are looking a loses of 40 or even more gold per a piece. If you decide to go the Marks ways, instead of the crafting way.
Current PvP reward system gives out 5% of the rewards/hour of that you make from PvE.
And WvW gives out maybe 2% of the rewards/hour of that you get from PvE.
Just saying these people’s mindsets are flawed from the start. But then again unlike PvE, you can actually afk in PvP and WvW matches and get ascended. So ultimately that’s on ANet.

I’m smiling to see the gold and plat players claiming that the MM is responsible for there losses.
Some of the posters on this thread told me to just “git gud” when I complained about the same issue. Now it’s seemingly the game’s fault.
Oh and btw, I’m currently low gold. I was low bronze last season.
Well it is pretty simple really. When the people who was playing complaining about the situation of this. They get shot down by the very people who like to farm them. So they leave or quit the game. Nothing has improved with the MM. So the people next in line has to deal with it. Then leave and the cycle continues until it gets to these players who are telling people “Get Gud Scrub” and what not. Starts to get the short end of the stick.
This is a firm case of, karma. Eat it all. Yall laughed it up while yall ran me and others. Out of this game’s PvP. Now suck on that distasteful dong. Tell me how does it taste? AHAHAHAHAHA. Yall very much deserve and called this on your selves.

You know, I always think this is 50/50 stuff is BS conspiracy…. and then I hit streaks over the weekend where I fall from 1670 to 1470 and then back up to 1550. I’m not becoming a wildly better or worse player from game to game. I am who I am at this point.
My guess is I will get back to about 1650-1700 then my rating will freefall again and then rebound to 1650 on the dot. This has happened every single season. I would say it would happen twice before settling on 1650 except I’m headed for Albion when it launches.

That same 1850 player is the one factor propping up the system. He’s carrying not only his own team, but also the fight against the opposition. He’s carrying BOTH sides. That’s a double burden. There’s just no. freakin. way anyone can win under those conditions. Let me lay out that math again:
Team A: 1800, 1850, 1800, 1750, 1780
Team B: 1850, 1700, 1400, 1455, 1555
Do you guys see that bolded number there? That’s the person carrying both sides. Makes his team and the opponents look good. The more people that leave and quit ranked, the worse that the matchmaking gets. The worse that the matchmaking gets, the BIGGER this numerical gap gets. The system pretty much just takes a DUMP all over veteran players.
Another thing, don’t think this happens only at “certain” tiers. It happens in every tier! Every single one! Bronze to legend. I’ve read the posts. “So and so team in plat doesn’t know how to rotate!” “I’ve got a ‘carry’ build that I’ve used in gold.” etc.
