Q:
So, I just got queued in ranked 4 times in a row against full pre – made teams as full solo team, with few occasional 2 man parties. Twice in which these teams are actually top tier players that play ESL on a weekly basis (on TS queuing as a team). My MMR is somewhat high, but I doubt it is that much since I am still an average player, giving the fact I don’t play as much as these dudes do.
My question is, are the developers actually aware of the dis balance they have created when merging Solo queue and Team queue? I mean, obviously, your faulty matchmaking is not doing a proper job of queuing players fairly against one another, so there has to be something done about it, right? Or have you shrunk the PvP player base so much with bad in game implementations, that the matchmaking itself just says: "Screw it, just put the level 20 player against a ESL champ so we can say that our queue times are relatively short (5 minutes)?
I am actually baffled that this is going on for so long.
Venting aside, I am legitimately wondering if there are any plans to, at least, somewhat address this. Separating Solo / Team Q? Improving matchmaking? Anything?
Because, this is driving, at least, me, from PvP, and I am fairly sure I am not alone in this boat.

Well, you could always party up and have a premade yourself..
That asside, it should normally be fixed when Leagues come in, following what Evan Lesh said.

@OP:
Yes, matchmaking is horrendous. I was still hoping that ANET would announce a new system as part of HoT. The current implementation is really bad.

They did, its called Leagues.

Was in a match where i got destroyed by a guy with the title “champion magus” and our team overall lost like 500 to 50 i think. I go to the wiki to look it up. “champion magus, awarded for winning 150 tournaments”. Oh ok, that sounds like a fair match up.
According to Anet, pvp pop is growing really well. No explanation on why we can’t have a solo queue though.

lol. That won’t fix anything. How is that going to prevent premades vs PUGS? They need new matchmaking logic.

I guess if you had looked beyond a glance, you would known that in game, and on the wiki itself under http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Conqueror it doesn’t say “tournaments”. It actually says “Win 150 rated arena games as an elementalist.”, whereby both ranked and unranked count as a rated arena game. It’s a title more indicative of time played then of skill to be honest, since even the worst player will eventually get enough wins to get the title even if he is carried by rest of the team every time he gets a win. In fact, him being matched up against you who clearly is new to sPvP, is a pretty strong indicator that this ele is in fact not very good at all.

I stand corrected. The part in the wiki to the right in the table that says: “150 tournament matches won as an elementalist” threw me off.
Either way, I do stand by the fact that the guy and his team absolutely obliterated my team. It’s something that seems to happen pretty regularly in solo q, especially on Friday or Saturday nights which must be when more people get together to play with friends. I guess one thing that would make things slightly more balanced, though anet has said they never would do it, is to add VOIP to pvp. If people in PUGS had the ability to communicate better it MIGHT make things slightly closer… though i’m a little doubtful about the overall amount.

It doesn’t focus on matchmaking, but Leagues do fix bad matchmaking outcomes. They even made the point system that way, with help from the “% Odds of Victory”. If, for whatever reason, you get an uneven match you won’t get as punished as you would if you had higher chances of beating the enemy team.
This doesn’t solve those situations, but they diminish the effect of losing in case the odds were against you. Because, let’s face it, whenever a premade is in the enemy team you are not going to lose automathically, sometimes you will face a premade and you will have the winning odds on your side.
Some people will be entitled to the opinion that with Solo Queue this wouldn’t be necessary, but I (and some other players as well) prefer this system to the matchmaking Solo Arena had back in the day that suffered almost the same problems as the current one.
So yeah, it’s “unfair” the “PUG vs Premade” thingie but I don’t think ANet will change the system anytime soon and they have made a good point scoring for Leagues that can disminish these side effects of an unfair match.

You’re going to lose a pip or go down a league if you lose games. Flat out that is what they said. So if they don’t fix the matchmaking system, there’s gonna be a huge issue where the only people who will be able to move up and stay in higher leagues are people who are in organized pvp guilds or have a structured pvp team to play with. Unless you have phenomenal luck in pugs… which i suppose is possible, it’s just not probable.
