I had a match tonight on Skyhammer. I think it was PUG vs full premade. We stomped the premade into the ground 500-72. At one point I was successfully 1 v 3 while we had all three captures. I killed 2 of the 3 and one escaped.

Curious, I asked the opposing Mesmer about it afterwards. That person told me that they had bought the game 2 hours before and the entire team had similar experience. According to that player, our match at Skyhammer was there second match ever.

I pointed them to Hotjoin and explained that running as a team would tend to get them harder matches. Along the way I mentioned metabattle and Osicat on YouTube. Sadly VashBash is apparently no longer on YouTube.

This match should never have happened. It points out some possible issues with matchmaking.

It is possible that the system took no notice of mmr or took it too little into account.
I’m not the best player, but I doubt my mmr is that of a player in there second match ever.

Maybe the initial mmr setting is too high? I had too high a rating when I first played competitive Chess. It caused quite a few matchmaking issues.

Whatever the case, the team seems to have been rated far too high.

I suspect that the mmr comparison/prediction is broken and/or set up in such a way that it places way too much faith in groups.

I had to apologize in mapchat. I don’t like to win that way and I definitely don’t like to lose that way. (It happens all too frequently, alas. Then again, I play the hated Mesmer class. )

This kind of PvP match is a great way to drive off customers. The Spirits know, that’s not what anet needs to be doing right now.
