How do you guys think a ROLE SPECIFIC matchmaking queue would work? To be clear you have to select roles that you are WILLING AND ABLE to play (DPS, Support, Roamer) and each team is then comprised of 3 DPS, 1 Support, 1 Roamer and it tells you what role you “won” after the acceptance and before the map selection. Then from that you can swap toons or whatever in pre-match and it has a symbol next to your name on the scoreboard FOR YOUR TEAM’S EYES ONLY showing what role you agreed to fill. That was the whole “profession stacking” argument may be changed and rather shifts people discussion which roles are needed/most important.

Essentially this could act like the classic MMO Dungeon LFG tool where you sign up as Tank, Healer, or DPS and then it queues you for that role and fits you onto a team accordingly.

Understand, this will likely cause longer queue times for certain roles (most likely DPS), but I think it may be a step in the balancing direction for the PvP system.

EDIT: I understand people can simply lie in their role selection, but that is something we just have to trust each other on and is why I think showing your team who is doing what is a good idea.

EDIT 2: Another possibility is 4 roles: 2 DPS, Support, Roamer, Brawler (Tankier class that specializes in 2v1s or holding their own but is somewhat selfish’ think Warrior)

I think the 1st step should be removing pve rewards from pvp. I mean, if i want pve stuff i play pve; farmers do nothing but ruin the game to ppl who simply want to play pvp and compete in it. Why should i farm pvp matches to get pve stuff, as if i’m doin it in Lake Doric?
I’m agree for role locking system. When gw2 was born, developers talked about the absence of the holy trinity (tank, dps, healer) , making gw2 an unique game, etc…
Ok, but we need defined roles in any case, or ppl will keep on gettin confused and not knowing what they’re doin…
Freedom on character creation, customization and build? Fine, but… What role should i play? What roles are in gw2 ?
