The title says it all. I would rather just have random matchmaking than what we have now. Its driving me to quit this game, as a player with over 3000 games played getting matched up with complete beginners. You need to put more experienced players in a pool together. Otherwise my choices are run with a full group all the time or not pvp.

So much truth in this post. Being shark rank (and knowing my warrior) i got matched up with complete beginners in ranked – a warrior holding a basic crafted rifle says the whole story. Later i watch the whole match as they could not win one single evenly numbered fight. Even when they had the number advantage they seemed to be losing.

Opponents on the other hand? Dragon finisher no matter where i look. They steamrolled us 500-130 or something.

I can only run full premade. If I don“t have a full group I get the lowest mmr players available to make up for my high mmr and I get farmed 500-0.

Quick sidenote unrelated to MMR, Ranks and Rankfinishers mean absolute 0 ever since last year…
You can be Rank 80 and still a complete waste of time, or Rank 30 and incredibly adept with your role and conquest
As for Rankfinishers, ever since the randomize feature came into the game I have been using that, and Dolyak before – despite having acces to a wide arrange of finishers

It is the same deal with titles to an extend – Champion “profession” can be attained two ways; Become incredibly good with the profession, or gamble every time you que up and hope your allies will carry you

What distinguishes a better player from another is understanding of the role that your build represents, map awareness, area awareness and understanding of rotations… When you see people going in one by one to die at a point over and over, giving your team no time to regroup, then you play with someone who has not the same understanding as someone who regroups and engages at a more suitable point

In short, do not emphasize on ranks that much, because Anet has made them a simple grind at this moment

Yeah, assumption that average mmr of team 1 = average mmr team 2 and everything will be fine is terrible. It comes from failure understanding how pvp works or it was forced. They wrongly assumed that one good player can carry novice players.
1. Ranked play should be restricted to some pvp lvl
2. Do not use average mmr at all. Try to find teams by checking players one by one.

They most likely using average team mmr, because, solo and team arena is now at same queue and at some point if you would like to check mmr one by one player, things can become tricky (because of parties 2,3,4 and full 5) and this can increase queue time.

I agree. Don’t try to queue up without a team if you have high MMR. Every game will be VS 3-5 man premade while you are stuck with 4 pugs who do not have much experience in pvp. This became very apparent to me once I bought an account for my wife and pvp’d on that account. Suddenly I was winning most of my games and facing next to no premades, maybe 2 people in a group sparingly.

Honestly, I am confused as to how this algorithm was ever thought to be a good idea when it is very obvious that it would cause just the problem it is causing now. Not only is it a problem to have team MMR. It also causes more problems when the opposing team MMR limit for premades continues to drop in order to reduce queue times. On top of that the issue of Anet RNG team comp that will put 4 engi teams, 3 thief teams together. This obviously shows that class is not being incorporated at all.
