I’ve played about 12 games today. Dragon finishers everywhere. I myself am rank 42. Am I not supposed to be matched up with players around that rank?

No. You’re supposed to be matched up based on skill level, which may or may not correspond with your rank. There are plenty of bad dragon ranks.

I think matchmaking is based on rating because ranks doesnt count (90% of pvpers are 80)

Can I look up this skill level/rating?

Nope. It’s hidden. The closest you can get is checking the leaderboards to see where you stack up relative to other players. You can’t see the actual rating, though.
