May PvP Survey (including esports, QQ & more)
Totally awesome-great-godlike-i-dont-know-enough-englikitteno-express-it thread..I hope that the devs will take these in mind and rush or leave behind some things they are planning….Its totally obvious that we need soloq as soon as possible

Good survey. Interesting to see that most people think Rangers are the most powerful now when very little actually changed about them. Probably a combination of a meta shift and the fact we just had spirit watch as a tourney map + ele nerfs on that map.
Seems most are fairly happy with this patch, warrior changes were not enough, and also that Anet needs to get on top of a solo queue now.
NA tPvP – Elementalist – Thief
Yeah, it’s very curious. Now rangers seem to be the OP class. They are indeed to strong at 1v1

I think this summarizes the situation fairly well.
Seems even more people think Warrior is the weakest class now, compared to last survey.
I guess it’s gonna stay this way until Anet realizes Warrior doesn’t need more damage, boonhate etc, but a way to actually deliver his damage without having to blow 2-3 utilities to do so.
because gratitude is a burden and revenge a pleasure.”
Fantastic thread. Seems like people are “slightly” happier about the balance now.
Any way to make the survey questions rate the classes 1-8 in terms of strength in different categories? It’s more questions but certainly more accurate then strongest and weakest class questions.
Just out of curiosity.
The last question seemed quite odd to me… what is a “PvP expansion pack” supposed to contain and cost? Without any info on that I had to choose “No” ;-)
Done. Keep ’em coming.
i chose no for the same reasons socram…another great survey…and some majorities i found suprising in there too =)

the same happened with ele, he was considered very hard to play and a bit weak until people realized how to play (yes i mean the rise of semi bunker D/D eles with valk amu and cantrips)… BM rangers were rising even before the patch, because people realized the same, pet does solid dmg and if ranger si tanky enough to survive while pet deals main dmg, he can be deadly, right after this they made the pet almost unkillable beast, it was totally predictable what will happen… BM ranger is way too OP, you cant kill semi-bunker/bunker ranger with lots of his evades on sword, you cant kill his pet and with right traits pet does even lots of dmg -> OP, BM ranger is “new cantrip ele”
PS: no idea why they buffed the AI part of class, especially when they are not punished when their pet dies because they have 2 pets with swap ressing them and one more pet ress in downed mode… it was totally ok he was killable
PPS: no need to talk about unlimited pet range and bugged/OP ress from pet in downed, especially underwater…

Great survey!
15 chars…
you think anet will see all these survey?
you think anet will see all these survey?
yes
Rangers are OP and all due to their pets….
I dont want to live in this planet anymore.
When i see an opposite BM Ranger i do one and only thing…..Avoid Pet attacks…So easy since they stop moving before attacking.Pets are so easily kiteable…They only thing that they must reduce is the leash range…Everyone complaining about Ranger OP i think they will stop in a few weeks after they found out that a BM Ranger does 0 pure dmg…Only pet and cond dmg…Keep cleansing and dodge pets attacks not Rangers…Shortbow hits for 150-200,no skill does like 3k dmg so you dont need to dodge.when it comes to sword it will be tough since it locks you AND THE RANGER down…Ranger cant dodge or move freely during the Swords autoattacks, use it against him..And a BM Ranger is totally worthless in teamfights, the only thing that can do is just to aoe fear with wolf, and believe it even BM traited, even with many regen, pets oftently die in teamfights, especially the dmg ones (cats, birds).

He will not kill you, but you won’t kill him either. And don’t forget we are playing conquest, so it’s easy to abuse this.

Because we are playing conquest is easy to do harm without killing him..Rangers have low access to stability. An elite skill,a traited at power traitline signet(no BM Ranger go there, needs 20 points) and one trait(not stability, every 90secs a cc goes to pet)..
Imo ppl should be able to see what class are facing before the match starts so they can change skills-traits-weapons…I would like to see if opposite team has a lot of thieves to bring some stun breaking skills or choose a cond removal skill if i see a necro.Same goes for the others,if you see a Ranger bring a cc with you,you will need it

Spec templates != Seeing the enemies’ classes, which is what you wrote.
The first has been asked for quite often and will hopefully be implemented not too far in the future… the devs at least said that it’s a feature they’d like to have.

You are right..Sr i didnt express it correct..I had in my mind something like LoLs pick when i was saying seeing enemies classes
I’m very surprised that the majority still prefers to have small balance changes, considering the ‘class balance’ votes shows the game really needs some obvious big changes.

Because small changes is the “obvious” answer. However it’s interesting that there’s a big number of people demmanding big changes.
In spoiler. Don’t know if I’m allowed to post if it’s about the vote resultes so far because I don’t know if people read the thread first or if everyone reading the thread already voted.
[spoiler]
Interesting to see the changes to Spirit Watch rated at 4. But still a lot of people complaining about that map. This can only mean they are on the right way and should not stop here and continue to make some more changes so everybody will be happy.
Too bad only a few people voted on random map rotation for thing 1st to implement. I also voted this but I still would prever if everyone could chose their map with different queues. Maybe I should have voted “new infrastructure” instead and this would better fit?
Future… lol still a lot thinking about esports. I voted the other option that got a lot of votes. Seems more realistic that with “healthy and competitive PvP”.

Edit. Spoiler not working. Complain to the forum developers. I used it like in the FAQ mentioned: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/faq/

but you already see enemy picks (profession)… what you dont see at start are items and skills which they take as they level up (build)… you must compare right things

It’s politically correct. “Hey, let’s do small changes and see how the meta evolves, let’s not rush into nerfs & buffs and make mistakes” <— very valid opinion
However I think a few big changes should be made to certain professions & builds.
Oh okay. Seems we assume everyone reading the thread already voted and are allowed to post about the results. Then my problem with the spoiler shouldn’t be a problem.
Regarding the small balance changes:
I think it would be better to make a lot small changes and make them often… not only once a month with a big patch.
Better than big changes where they need time to figure out what to change and then only every few month.
If it’ s only about tweaking some numbers of damage of one skill I would like to see this every 1-2 weeks.
I had in my mind something like LoLs pick when i was saying seeing enemies classes

Random thought:
Maybe it would be nice to see the enemy amulet (only the amulet) in the scoreboards?
Right now you can’t think a proper strategy until you find out which role is every enemy playing. Sometimes you won’t figure out if the enemy is a bunker or a dps until he hits you.
And that makes the first “preparation” minutes useless and forces everybody to play a generic strategy.

It’s a survey, not an essay. There is no right or wrong answer, it’s about personal opinion. If people answer what they think is correct, then there is no point in having the survey.
Well that was my point. People complain on the forum about a few professions that needs some big changes, which the votes also reflect, yet people still think there should be made small balance changes. Obviously, for the profession balance to be fixed, there needs to be some big changes to it. Wanting small balance changes would make sense if each profession had around 12.5% votes.

Oh you misunderstood me, or I didn’t explain myself.
I was trying to say that although “small changes” was the most expected answer, many people prefers big changes. It’s still a minority, but it’s growing in comparison with past surveys.

amulet is more than half of all stats, its almost like revealing whole build… just learn to adapt, its supposed to be like this and its part of skill

Well to be fair, it is hard to know where ArenaNet stands when it comes to balance. It has always seemed very different to the general stand point of players. For example, the Ranger getting a pet buff, when it was already a top tier profession. So maybe there is some fear involved in the answer?

Congratulations!! The idea of a survey is amazing.
But there is something that makes me very sad.
ArenaNet should do surverys, not users.
Interesting survey, but some questions could give more information or more options to choose from.
Results so far (215 participants):
Average mark for this patch: 3,61/5
Average mark for contest only game mode: 2,71/5 —> lowest mark in all surveys so far
8% of the forum readers didn’t come back. 7% did.
The patch grow an interest into forming teams. 36% players tried, but half of this amount (18%) failed.
14% of the community is not interested at all in tournaments
Average mark for Spirit watch changes: 3,63/5
Average mark for spectator mode: 3,89/5 —> highest mark in all surveys
55% of the players think that there should be an ingame way to obtain custom arenas
Strongest profession is now considered to be the ranger (58%). The elementalist has fallen down in the list after the nerfs (previously 7X%, now 11%)
Weakest profession is still the warrior (65%)
66% of the people consider balance is slightly better now. 25% think nothing changed. However the community prefers small changes (56%) rather than big ones (44%)
There’s a big consensus on what should come next. 47% of the people prefer soloqueue implementation before any other addition to the game.
Only 73% of the people see a bright future. (37%= esports) (36%= just a healthy pvp).
65% forum readers would buy an expansion. 35% wouldn’t.

Because balancing with a scalpel is far better then balancing with a sledgehammer.
There are way to many variables to make big changes. I like the slow approach.
Bring back: ‘Gamer’ title + MAT’s!
Throw out: Hotjoin!
Because balancing with a scalpel is far better then balancing with a sledgehammer.
8 months of surgery didn’t seem to help Warriors in the slightest. I’ld say it’s a high time for a sledgehammer.
To be fair, other classes don’t need such radical changes, they’re fine with ‘scalpel’ approach imo.
because gratitude is a burden and revenge a pleasure.”
I have to agree with Harrier….by design I feel warriors need literally a major overhaul….they will, at the moment, technically speaking be limited by just the way guild wars 2 plays by the mechanics ( not adrenaline ) and gameplay of just how a warrior works. For PvP only of course.
Warriors should be redesigned IMO. Anet can buff their skills, but if the warrior doesn’t land a hit these buffs are useless.
They shouldn’t buff the class until people play it, because it will end up being op.
Warriors should be redesigned IMO. Anet can buff their skills, but if the warrior doesn’t land a hit these buffs are useless.
Exactly my point. Buffs here and there won’t do, class needs a major overhaul, possibly completely changing how it plays. No other class needs to use 2-3 utilities just to land its damage on target, and it should not be acceptable on Warrior either.
I recently changed to Thief and was blown away by the possibilities. All the tools I need to stay on target are built into weapon sets, leaving utilities free to be used for escape tools/team support/even more damage. It’s like I can do twice as much while putting forth half the effort.
So yeah, Warrior needs a rework. There were dozens of ideas over the months Anet could use. 3rd weapon set, Stance dancing similar to ele’s attunements, increasing range of meele skills slightly… Just stop trying to tweak numbers and actually do something that will matter…

I just wonder one thing: Who voted for Warrior in the “Strongest profession after the patch” question
The only thing I am surprised by is that people actually believe Anet is justified to charge money for private matches.
Monetizing competitive play already killed the population.
We have already paid a full box price and waited 8+ months to play a private match. Asking for more money is a slap in the face of the few loyal players who are left.
Imo, I think a separate ladder/leaderboard for teams and solo queue should be released with split queues.
Hopefully we see some responses on when they can get this done (if at all). I was thinking maybe June.

The reason Warrior has such a hard time is because they are very well balanced. They lack any sort of overwhelming anything to bring to the table when compared to other professions. In beta Warrior was all about damage, you did a lot of damage, all the time, and it was attached to a fairly rugged body. Warriors are designed around killing first and just being a doom train of pain. Unfortunately since the meta-game in conquest revolves so much around bunkers, which stall out warriors, or heavy area of effect damage, which they lack, they are sub par.
They should try reverting some of the damage nerfs Warrior has gotten over the course of the game, because that’s what the class is about. They don’t have plentiful escapes, strong defensive boons, or gimmicks. Warriors kill to live and they don’t seem to kill enough these days. That’s due to a combination of factors including; limited (though not necessarily bad) condition removal (forcing your team to support you in this aspect), low sustained healing (fine as long as you kill quick enough), no innate defense other than high armor/hp.
